Brad Johnson (1924): Playing in Gunsmoke and Maverick (Series)
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424634/?ref_=fn_al_nm_3

to separate him from Brad Johnson (1959)
playing in Supergator, Copperhead, Dallas (Season 10, Ep. 10), Outer Limits (TV-Series)
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424635/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1

and Brad Johnson (birth year unknown)
playing in Dragon Hunter (aka "The Fire Dragon Chronicles"), Orcs
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1959866/?ref_=fn_al_nm_2

the listed ones are only the appearances of them in my own database but each of them did "a little bit" more.

Wow! Much more tools than I expected! I'll try all of them to find out which is best for me. And I'll let you know as soon as possible... until then I am out for contributions^^

We all know it: A huge part of the profiles in the database might be complete, but there are still a lot with "missing pieces". One has no studio, the next no country, then there is missing e. g. the "sound guy" or the cinematographer... and if you want to complete profiles like these, it's hell of a job to search for them. And the bigger your collection is, the more time this research costs.

Yeah, for sure, sometimes the missing one isn't even credited, but that's another thing!

As I am actually in a good mood for completion and contribution, I am searching for any tool with that function:

It checks all profiles, and when the tool has finished the job, I get a list which says: Profile #1234 - missing: sound editor, profile #2143 - missing: media company, profile # 765 - missing: release date
and so on

Tell me your opinion of I am the only one looking for a tool like this to improve the database and if you think that this would make sense - or not!

And finally - if you are one of the guys who are able to create such stuff - if there is a chance to get this tool done ;-)

I think that it could be created as my genealogic software has this kind of tool integrated to tell me if there are missing dates or locations.

So I am very curious about especially YOUR opinion!

Remeber to not add uncredited crew. That is not allowed per the rules.

With the crew it is with the cast: In "Western von Gestern" itself the crew is "reduced" to composers & directors, but in the profiles of the original series they are! I will see if the profiles are accepted or declined.

If you have never seen "Western von Gestern": It's an opening and an end sequence created for the series of several clips of old western, and between those there is placed any other series.

It's only an update, but you only could see it if you own it. Okay, I did two season - at least for myself - and contributed them. Within the next few days I will see if they are accepted and then know if I do the other two only for myself or for the community.... it's an exciting question.... I'll see

Yes, all the cast will need to be marked as uncredited. You should be able to use the UPCs from any DVD/Blu-ray releases of Zorro Rides Again and something like you have written here as evidence in the contribution notes.

Okay, I just contributed Season 1! If anybody is able and willing to check this contribution, I would like to know if I did it the right way. If this is NOT accepted, I'll know that I shouldn't contribute the further seasons

This is another question for agreement. The german TV-Series "Western von Gestern" is kind of a "compilation" of several US-Western-Series. As the 4 profiles of the series don't have ANY cast or crew, I wanted to type... and had to find out that (at least in the first few episodes) there is credited just one actor and for crew only composer and director.
So I did some research and had to find out that the first 7 episodes are the whole US-Series "Zorro Rides Again", released in different versions with much more cast & crew.
For myself I might adapt the data from these DVDs but the question is, if I could contribute the data then and if I would need to mark each actor except the credited one as "uncredited" with an explanation.
Any chance for support?

Well, I am just a little bit confused! I did quite some contributions during the last weeks and a lot of them have not been part of the database before, my so called "initial profiles".
Today I did one more (UPC: 4052912972131, "Vier Stunden von Elbe 1") and altough I did everything like I it with countless other profiles, it is declined. So I don't understand why!
I'd appreciate very much an enhancement of the contribution site with kind of comments.
Especially in cases like this one I am not able to understand what happened and especially why!
And without knowing if I or what I did wrong this time, it is quite difficult to make it better the next time.

Hey there, I am just at typing the cast & crew for all episodes of "Hong Kong Phooey". As this is an animated series, I am not sure with one crew category: There are four persons credited as "camera", but is this now "director of photography" or "cinematographer" or maybe something else which is not part of the credits? I'd like to know this that I am able to contribute correctly....

Okay, I understand that my explanation was missing too much. So what I want to do is creating kind of "lists" to "combine" profiles on a special way. The Marvel MCU was the easiest way to start this (as everyone knows it). "Play"list is the wrong discription, but there should be kind of a list namend "Marvel Cinematic Universe". If I select this list (don't know where I could create this) all contents of the list are filtered (would be easy with tags), and (that's the problem with tags) I see the number/position of the movie in this list.

In my imagination I'd prefer it the way of box sets: The so called "box" is the name of the (play)list but I have to add the contents in order of their number (don't know how to sort this).

If I'd do this with kind of "virtual box sets" this in my opinion would complicate the situation especially if there are any updates. Then - at least if I accept the update - everything is placed correctly again.

So in my opinion so far there is no function in the program I could handle it the way I want (which for me is the easiest way). For sure short lists like the MCU could be done another way, but the biggest one I am thinking about is "The Monday Night War (WWE vs. WCW) which includes more than 300 discs. And doing this with additional tags or any of the suggested ways I couldn't handle it without losing the overview.

Maybe the huge size of my collection makes some ways more difficult, I don't know. But any new feature for the program - maybe at "Utilities" - Lists --> choose List / create new list is the way I'd prefer. Alternativ any add on which could do this (if there is something available like this?).

So now I hope that description of my idea was detailed enough to understand what I am looking for!

Also, create a Tag called "Series".  Create a child tag under that called "Marvel-Cinematic-Universe".  Create child tags under that called "Avengers", "Captain-America", "Iron-Man", etc.  Assign each film in the series to the desired tag.  When you want to see just the Iron Man films filter on the Iron-Man tag.  When you want to see all the MCU films, filter on the Marvel-Cinematic-Universe tag.  Because of the Sort Order you've set, these films will always show up in the order you want.

First of all: I used hundreds of tags. They are good to put movies together on a special way, but if I would follow your idea, I "only" had the MCU list together - but not the order. And if I create a separate child-tag with a number for every single movie, just imagine the number of different tags then. E. g. the MCU-List actually has 23 movies (including all 3 phases). Including numbers there would be "the next" 27 tags for my collection.

That's why I am absolutely for an enhancement of the profiler to simply create playlists (like you could do e. g. on youtube). Just imagine a point in the menu "Features --> Playlists --> load playlist/create playlist". And if I have create one or more, it should be possible to e. g. flag all movies of that playlist or set a filter for only this or that playlist. In my opinion this would be so much easier.

You all have nice ideas! But especially you, scotthm, you own a collection with the size of mine. Just imagine to create 10 or 20 playlists only with tags. Additionally to all the other tags you allready use... for me this sounds like an horrible loss of the overview.... Sorry!

In theory that's a nice idea. But just imagine a playlist like (for example)

Movie 2345
2nd disc of Movie 1234
Movie 789
3rd disc of Movie 543
Movie 654

and so on. With your idea I should take pieces of box sets into a virtual box, and this is not the ideal way to solve my "problem". Sorry!

This would be highly appreciated. There are so many discs with at least two movies on them in my collection and most times each one has another ratio!

This is something I am thinking about for quite some time. Before I placed this, I tried my best with the LoadDVD app from Mediadogg but this feature does not what I was hoping for.

What I am talking about is a tool/function in the profiler simply to create playlists. Just imagine the "Marvel Cinematic Universe". It becomes bigger and bigger and if you haven't already saved the correct order of the movies anywhere, you need to google every time again you think about watching the whole movie-series. In case of that playlist it could also be 3 separate ones for the 3 phases so far (I am quite sure that this is going on for some years).

And the same "problem" I have with the order of the DC Universe. You could think about this with all the movies in your personal collection. There will always be some you might have to watch in a special order for a better understanding. Another example is movie series with some of them without numbers (like "The Exorcist") to place them in the correct order of prequels and sequels and so on.

For sure I could list now dozens of examples for playlists I am thinking about but I think you might have understood what I would like to be part of the profiler. I hope it doesn't cause too much work and could be integrated in quite some time.

And for sure you are welcome to start a discussion about ths... :

Just recognized another confusing change: In the former version(s) when I entered the German Movie Title, the App found the movie. Now it doesn't! But if I enter the original title, my result then IS the GERMAN title... that's kind of confusing

The new version (2.1.5.2) seems to have a bug: No matter if I only update or completely replace the former version, every time I start the new one, it tells me that it is 2.1.5.1 - either the version doesn't recognize itself or I downloaded an old version altough I wanted the new? Just confusing....
But it seems to be the new one as all the problems I had before are gone

Well, it might be a simple thing for somebody with KnowHow, but for me it looks complicated.

I am sure a lot of you know and use the Awards-Plugin? Well, what can I do - or what do you do - if there is an entry missing or simply wrong?

I just added the movie "Marie-Louise" (Switzerland 1944) to my collection. According to wikipedia it has won the Oscar for "Best Original Script". IMDB says the same. But now my problem is, that the Database of the Plugin says "Nominated: Best Writing. Adapted Screenplay"

As I believe in the online sources, I would like to change the entry in the Awards Database...

Alternative: The one who has done the data for Academy Awards (as far as I know Tom Gaines is "a little bit" away from DVDProfiler) is anywhere around here and could modify the data himself and send me the corrected file?

Help is welcome and appreciated!

Thanks in advance

This makes me thinking about one idea:

As so many things have a standard, why not the studios? And also a "credited as" line there?

I listed just a few examples and could continue with several versions of KSM, New KSM and others.
Hm, sometimes it's a jungle of rules or no rules...

But this information will make me "modifying" at least my own database more personal and merge some of the entries to shorten the list. Simply for a personal better overview

The answer is it depends.  The studio or media company name is the name used for that time period in question and/or the specific release.  Using one of your examples, Lionsgate used to be know as "Lions Gate", but changed their name to Lionsgate.  So, in short, both are correct depending on the time period in question.

Okay, that's at least partially acceptable, but what about "Lionsgate" vs. "Lionsgate Films" or Lisa Film, LISA Film, Lisa-Film.

Especially if I get the idea: Let's see all the movies the company produced. Then I have to check 5 boxes for just one company? For Rialto Film it is also a reason of the time period. But - at least in theory - it could be reduced to the two versions I listed.

Time by time I am going accross the data of my collection I don't check that often.... like companies and studios. Before I kind of "merge" my own data I would like to know your opinion how to handle this:

We have several versions of the same company/studio again and again, and if I check for an update of the profile and there IS one, it's nearly sure that the studios remains. So just as explanation for what I mean:

Göttinger-Film-Atelier GmbH / Filmatelier Göttingen
Rialto Film / Rialto Film Preben Philipsen
LISA Film / Lisa Film GmbH / Lisa-Film / Lisa-Film GmbH / Lisa-Film München
Lions Gate / Lionsgate (in several versions)

The first two are kind of the same company, only changed their name and/or the kind of the company. All those Lisas are all the same, only in different spellings. Like Lisa, we have some more with or without a dash.

So first of all: Is there anywhere on the site a list of studios? I did some research but couldn't find what I am looking for: A list which shows for example:
LISA Film (correct) -> All other spellings are wrong

Maybe the main part of you is more in cast & crew than in studios, I don't know, but as the huge growth of my collection might have reached an end and only a little bit will come time by time I could spend time to replace the wrong spellings by the correct ones (if there is any list).

If the list doesn't exist yet: Would anybody of the staff out there start one - maybe with an own forum-thread with suggestions?

For actors, who changed their name e. g. we have it that the version of the name he/she is credited most times is the one for the database and the other spellings have to be "credted as". I know that we can't do this for studios, but I simply try to reduce my list at least 15 - 20 % with changing all the several spellings to one.

Tell me what you think about and if I am the only one who can't see the forrest because of too many trees.....

I would understand the Cookie-Problem if it is always there. But: When I am only in the forums, I am not logged off. Closing invelos, coming back, still logged in. It looks like an auto-logg off as soon as I try to submit a new contribution. I absolutely don't understand and it is frustrating.

Sometimes it suddenly works - without any changes of my settings. One more reason why I can't understand. Just for any imaginantion: The first contribution worked! You can see in the upper right corner that I am logged in! But as soon as I click on "Submit" I am back at the log in, no matter how often I log in, I return to the site every time when I click on submit.
