Well, it seems like it shouldn't be too hard to create a report or skin that says to include "Regie" and "Une filme de" and "whatever".  The only issue would be knowing how many different variations occur.

The Other possibilty would be to use "labels" for the fields but allow them to be changed to "as credited".  The label would always be "Director", for instance.

I am not a programmer so do not pretend to have the answer, but it sounds like an issue that could be solved easy enough.

There will always be a variation that is not considered yet.

That's what I have proposed in many discussions in the IVS forum. Whitout those role tags "as credited" crew credits are of low value to me. But actually I'm happy with the system we have, namely crew credits by function and not by label. Even though the rules try to turn this into an as credited system.

I would not say this is easy, when I see how long we have waited for credit linking.

Just wanted to ask you guys what you think of the credit "Written for the screen by"? The film in question is the US region 1 release of the horrendous Nicolas Cage remake "The Wicker Man" (EAN 085391-100935).

In the credits it says "Based on an original screenplay by Anthony Shaffer", and then on the next screen "Written for the screen and directed by Neil LaBute".

IMO this should qualify as a "Screenwriter" credit for LaBute, since it says "Written for the screen" (i.e. "Screenwritten"), NOT just "Written by", and it is based on other original material.

Any opinions on this? I have 8 Yes votes and 1 No vote on my contribution. I will be happy to remove my contribution if you guys think I'm wrong.

My contribution (where I changed LaBute's credit from Writer to Screenwriter) was declined, with 9 Yes votes and 1 No vote.
