As far as I am concerned my vote is between me and the contributor. I am not impressed that they are now openly public, as I was not keen on the "back door" visibility. As such, I am not interested in PMs from other voters and don't want them - even if I have made a mistake.

I am however more than happy to discuss with the the contributor.

Maybe we should have a policy where, if a user notices an error in another user's vote, then they PM the contributor and suggest that they get in touch with the other user.

That wouldn't work. Example: I submit a profile with some wrong data, 22 people vote yes, one person sees the wrong info, pms me about it and says "By the way, you might want to tell the 22 people that voted yes to your contribution that they voted wrong."  I like my wrong data, I'm not going to turn around and tell everyone to vote no to my own contribution. OTOH, if I agree that my contribution is bad, I'll fix it and everyone will have to vote again anyway.

I don't mind if I have made a mistake voting if another user sends me a polite pm telling me what is wrong (or not wrong) with the contribution that might reverse my vote. If I agree I'll change my vote. If I disagree, depending on the error, I may respond with my reasoning for my vote. If I don't respond, I don't want to see another pm from the same user asking me why I haven't changed my vote yet. I don't recall ever sending anyone a pm about a vote (3rd party) and I don't think I'll start unless it is a huge, blatant rule violation. If it's just a little mistake and it gets accepted, it will get fixed eventually.

I thing I worded it wrongly.
I just meant that if for some reason you felt a particular person's vote needed commenting on then you should do so via the contributor and not to the user direct.

I have been "no voted" on a few submissions, and all for a good reason - except one, and that was a misunderstanding about the submission

I have found the use of PM's helpful and also it is nice to say "Oopps, my bad" if the No vote shows an error in my submission, which leads to a better profile in the end, and that is the Main Objective

I do not take it personally, and I hope that others feel the same way, if/when I vote No
Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen]

I believe it's perfectly reasonable to PM someone if they seem to have missed something or to ask them why they voted a certain way BUT I think it's appropriate that any such PM take into account that some users are more sensitive than others and respect that users point of view if there is still a disagreement. Putting any users off voting is something that should be avoided at all costs for the good of the program (and out of basic respect, for that matter).

Any baracking or ranting should be dealt with very seriously (and not just by saying "Well they can block me if they want").

FWIW I've never had a problem in the past with this (though I have always chosen any users I've PMd carefully ) and have had no problems with other people pointing out my errors when they have done so politely (or if we disagree just accepting the votes will decide rather than continuing to bombard me)
It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong

Some of you that believethat your vote is between you and the Contributor are forgetting that an errant Yes vote that allows bad data into the Db affects ALL of us. So all I can say is PAY ATTENTION to what you are doing, especially if share this opinion make SURE that you are voting correctly.

If someone, other than the contributor, pm's me regarding my vote on a contribution, that someone better have a damn good reason for doing so and had better walk on eggshells.  If I blatently made a mistake and the user politely points it out, I guess I'd be ok with that.  If the user comes off as pompous and accusitory, he/she is gonna get both barrels  .  PMer BEWARE .

I've changed my mind. I wanna be a badass like you!

It doesn't matter though as I never vote incorrectly anyway!

Like I said, it is between me and the contributor. Quit your preaching, you're in no position to be dictating to others what to do as just one of the users.

Andrew, I am not dictating, and if you tell me that all your votes  are 100% accurate each and every time I will be a trifle skeptical. I acknowledge that I can be wrong and welcome it users advise me of an error. Some users on the hand......

You can get just as pissy as you want.

Generally speaking you won;'t get anything from me unless I have already contacted the Contributor FIRST. I am not even tracking user data right now, there is too much of it. But once it slows down I will again, and yes your attitude and others views on this affects how carefully I will, view any Contributions that come in front of me. Why? Too reasons, in my view your attitude is uppity and demonstrates to me the user does not CARE whether or not he allows bad data to go into the database, so....it means i watch closer. <shrugs>

You have your opinion and welcome to it. I have MINE and I am entitled to it. Thank you.

Not geting "pissy", just asking you to MYOB - which are clearly unable to do. But nothing new there.

Ah, the guardian of the database strikes again! Look after yourself, and let the rest of us look after ourselves.

You certainly are, but you are not entitled to dictate to me what to do when it comes to contributing or voting, or anything else. And no amount of eye rolling changes that fact old man.
