Shouldn't new contributions not be subjected to such close scrutiny as changes to existing profile?  I had a similar rejection with my contribution of Infernal Affairs Blu-ray profile.  Lot of work was put into making that profile and if there are certain part of the profile that the screeners don't agree with, couldn't they just reject that portion of the profile rather than the entire thing?

We're not sure if that's possible - there was a question about it on another topic but I can't remember which one now.
Unless we hear otherwise I think it's best to assume that they can't accept parts of profiles.

In any case, new contribution, by definition almost always means an incomplete profile.  Most of new contributions are going to be for a prerelease item which are going to have the wrong covers, overview, and other details.  Cast and crew information is also going to be either incomplete or from internet sources like IMDB.  I am not sure that rejecting any BRAND NEW contribution for any of these reasons is a good idea.  As long as the UPC is valid, I am of the opinion, that new contributions be accepted and wrong information be corrected later.

I'm not sure that I agree with that.
If you can't verify that the data is correct, I'd much rather it not be submitted, than incorrect data entered, as there's no guarantee that it will be corrected later.
The rules specifically allow for temporary overviews and cover scans to be submitted for pre-releases, and to be honest - how much more data do you need on a pre-release? Cast and crew can easily wait till after it's release.

I agree with north. Follow the rules, that means don't be submitting Cast and Crew from anywhere other than the Actual source, that COULD be a videotape you might own of the film/TV. Don't submit any other which cannot be verified, in other words if you can't verify the Audio or Video data, for example, don't use a Ouija board to produce an answer.

or from internet sources like IMDB

This alone is enough to get the contribution declined as it is in violation of the rules.

Regarding your IMDb comment, xradman. READ the IMDb Terms of Use. Pre-release or NOT its use would expose Invelos to liability. LIVE WITH IT.

I'll try to rephrase my contribution note and give another try.

My new phrase in contribution note worked much better:

New contribution with hi-res cover images.
Cast, Crew, Runtime, Studios, Video Format, Audio Tracks and Subtitles from the movie on the DVD.
All other specs from disc and cover.

PS. Does somebody know why my italic tag is not working?
Fixed, thanks to Lopek.

To large piece  for tag?
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Multiple paragraphs - you would have to set the italic tag separately for each paragraph.

Thank you - at least 1 person understood the point I was making.

Considering that not everybody is a proficient native writer of English, such [small] semantical points may not really warrant rolling eyes, disgust or reprimands. Conservative about ones own utterings, liberal against others - shouldn't that be our motto?

I'm not aware that expressed any disgust or reprimands?

My original comment was explaining why I thought it could have been misunderstood by the screeners and that the contributor should just try and re-word the comments that he had used. Which he later did and then got the contribution accepted.

Rather than start a new thread, I just got a contribution declined because a birth year was included. Well, this was a new UPC for an existing profile and yet I needed to give documentation for it! Um, then why was the original approved?

This is the An Evening with Kevin Smith 2 DVD.

I guess later I'll resubmit it and take out the birth years, just frustrating.

You can leave the Kevin Smith, it is the other birth year that I did not recognize.

Ok, I just checked and the only name in the system for Jason Mewes is the one with a birth year. Should I still change it? Will it change the others with him in the cast?

I dont know of another Jason Mewes in the DB. If you can provide some type of support, then leave it in. If not, I would take it out.
