| | Posted: | | | | Okay, this wasn't my submission, but I can understand the frustration. Basically, it makes me wonder what in the hell Universal was thinking when they put out this DVD. I mean, has anyone ever in their lifetime had a conversation about this movie and felt it necessary to qualify it with, "you know, Alfred Hitchcock's version?"  In any book, magazine, database or other movie reference material you can think of, this movie is simply called "The Birds." Heck, it's even called that in the movie credits...you know, our holy grail of what constitutes correct information. But for god knows what reason, Universal saw fit to dump Alfred Hitchcock's... on the cover. What a bunch of idiots. Especially since we now will slavishly repeat this nonsense as if it were holy writ.  I eagerly await "Orson Wells' Citizen Kane." |

And, I guess, "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". But definitely not "Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds". | | Posted: | | | | Check both the cover and the On Screen title. Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds it is. Therefore changing it to the birds is a non-no. Now for the record I leave it to sort as the The Birds for the reasons mentioned but that is irrelevant to what the title IS.

BTW, there is only one title card that has ever been released for this film. Perhaps you are thinking of something else? | | | | Dan |

Unless someone wants to try and invoke the Modified Title rule to use the coverart title. But that would be plain silly imo. But then I have seen sillier around here.  | | | Andy

I was only making note of the fact that we have the dubious honor of having the only database in the world that doesn't recognize a film called "The Birds." And really, let's not even get started on nitpicking. I've actually watched you parse siingle letters in the rules to justify some of your more extravagant "interpretations". |

Dan, when I say title card, I refer to the actual title card that appears on screen during the credits. I just popped the film in and double checked. "Alfred Hitchcock's" and "The Birds" appear on completely separate screens in the film credits. |
