Ok... All I can say is sticker shock Calidain. The B & W line is expensive and more speaker than I need. But I will say that they sounded superb in the theatre showroom they has setup. I definatley heard the difference with the subs compared to the front speakers pounding out the low end and it was unbelievable the sound experience. They also had the new Cerwin Vega surround system. 5 speakers and a subwoofer for 1K that also sounded phenominal. I now know I have to buy new and I am going to do my homework. I would not buy the CV's because they were made out of plastic and you have to buy the stands as well which is extra. But they had 6 speakers in each speaker and the sound again was awesome. But I want them made out of wood. I just believe that the plastic will eventually rattle.

With the B & Ws causing sticker shock, as they often do, I think you should seriously look into Polk Audio.  Avoid the Monitor speakers and go for the RTi series of loudspeakers!!!  There are new RTis released that you might find perfect for your budget!!!

There really is nothing more exciting as shopping and purchasing a whole new set of speakers, except maybe shopping and buying a new car!!!

Hey Bill...I have to agree with Calidain about the Polk speakers, they offer excellent sound quality and the sticker shock is really a non-factor. Keeping that and your budget in mind, this is what I came up with for you...Total system price is about $2300...

(2) Polk Audio PSW505 300 watt subwoofers
(1) Polk Audio FXi5 Surround Speakers (pair)
(1) Polk Audio CSi5 Center Channel speaker
(2) Polk Audio RTi12 left/right floorstanding speakers

The pricing is far below retail. I can let you know where to buy at this price level if you'd like but I prefer not to post that information here, publicly. I'm not sure it would be allowed anyway...Let me know.

Honestly I would forget about the POLK subwoofer and spend the money on a HSU or SVS sub!!!

Tweeter is great for discounts, just talk with the salesman, most times you can haggle with them...you can't do that with most chain electronics retailers!!!

So what did you think Bill? Do you have a wonderful new set of home theater loudspeakers to welcome into the family?

Not yet, But I am glad I started looking. I am listening to everything I can before making a decison. The Polks are very nice and have the same earth pounding bass the big CV's do with the sub setup that I heard
