Hehe, we germans are not that different either. Actually, we use a lot of curse and other words from the  american english language instead of the german ones. I think that is even more stupid.
Well, i do that too, so.... i better shut up now

I was reading a thread the other day and it appeared to be the same battle between the same folks. I read the whole thing and as you may have guessed, nothing was resolved. "shocker"

Similar to the "Flags" thread, there seems to be a real need for tolerance and a sense of humour...

I agree there may be some liability issue for Invelos if their rules and abilities to monitor are not in the languages "officially" recognized here.

That said, people are pretty much free to post as they see fit - always risking the big RED ARROW!

I have no problem at all with someone having difficulty with English and making an attempt to use it anyway. In spite of all the hoopla, and I know this may anger some people, English is really the language that is dominant in the world of business.

Just check out China, they are teaching literally everyone in school how to speak Engilsh. In the majority of European countries the same hold true.

I understand the French feel very protective of their language. In Canada, francophones and the Quebec Government pay particular attention to this. I have no problem with any language and I can speak french fluently. The fact remains that English will get you by virtually anywhere, and that is just a harsh reality.

So for my 5 cents, (we have to get rid of pennies) English is just fine as the official language of Profiler.

It's not personal, nor is it intended to offend anyone, it just makes sense...

Yet its the one i dont need, the ones i would need (or would have been useful to speak) are Swedish, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian. My friend has to often work with foreign people, who usually speak Estonian, Polish or Russia. But not english. Broken english is widely spoken. But to be able to have proper conversation with it isnt that common. And especially in EU being able to just speak some english isnt that useful.

In my experience, if you speak a foreign language with someone, at least one has to be very good with it. One has to be able to figure out what the other one is trying to say. Also the "dominant" language is compleatly related to the region you're in. Go to South America and compare which is better Spanish or english. Go to west africa and see which is better english or french. go to central europe and see which is better french, german or english. In my opinion there is no international language.

Yes, i figured that out, too. You can't survive everywhere with just english.
But i must admit, that in most countrys you will find someone who speaks english good enough to talk with you more then just about the weather
And the internet has spread english words in every country, every programmer around the world knows at least 50 words in english, probably a lot more or he couldn't do his job good enough.

@whispering: If you need more good sounding german cursewords, let me know

i don't really understand what surfeur 51 wants but for me it's quite simple ...
these forums are in english so i've to post in english ...
i don't post a lot because i'm not very good in english but i try ...
for the contributions, it's a bit difficult but not impossible ...
i know there are other french users of dvd profiler but they don't go on forums ...
french people are really bad in foreign languages so most of them don't understand or don't have the courage to post ...

Nobody will complain if you post in French, mostly I'm posting in English and sometimes if necessary I post or reply in Dutch. Nobody will hold it against you for asking in French (put in a hint in English so others now what it is about your posting)
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

It's better to ask in French, German, Italian, Dutch or any other world language and receive an answer than don't ask because we are not perfect in English and receive nothing. Don't worry sebchoq and other French users, a lot of users here are french speaker before anything.

Hi,
I am relatively new to invelos and the DVD Profiler forums. That said, in the short time I have been here, I have observed overall, a generous respect and courtesy to non-English posters, with fellow community members willingly offering assistance to their lingual fellows. Having separate language forums would depreciate the overall community forums in general, with posts for assistance being orphaned in little used forums rather than the overal community being able to offer assistance in a technical forum specific area.

From my own life experience, I am a long-term member of a community radio station. It is quite unique in that it is a ethnic/multicultural broadcasting station with about 5,000 members and broadcast in 52 languages including English. Our lingua franca is English and that is preferred by all our members because English is our currency, regardless of whether we are native English speakers or only have it as our 2nd or even third language.  We use English without fear or embarassment and it generally succeeds in communicating our needs, be it technical, legal (defamation and broadcasting laws) or social. It is often said that we are like 52 little islands with English as our bridge for all of us to use.

We too need to consider these forums as a "community" for one and all, regardless of our ethnicity, language, global location, race, religion or gender or otherwise.

For example, maybe I would like to make a post in a Latin language forum. However, these days I would become either lonely very quickly or very patient waiting for someone out there to reply to my plea for assistance... I think I would rather post it in Latin in the existing forums for my fellow members to see because I know someone fluent in Latin would be more likely to see it there. For those of that do not know Latin, they may develop a grasp of the post or even suggest an answer anyway... that is better than silence which can happen too often with many forums on the internet.
