I looked again on my negative votes and it seems that some users simply vote against it if it contains a %XX instead of a symbol. I find this offensive, it makes no difference whatsoever to the link.

Link only to the main page for the site - not to individual sections (trailers, reviews, information, etc)

Am I correct with these statements:
In the Trailers and Clips section
www.apple.com/trailers/fox/i_robot/trailer3/ is a wrong link
www.apple.com/trailers/fox/i_robot/ is a correct link

Technically neither is wrong but the first is redundant and not needed if there's a link to it from the main page.

There should only be linking to the main page and not to the individual files. you could post very link from the trailer section for that movie, and that is not the idera. you might have overlooked:
For trailers, link only to the hosting pages, not to the movie file directly

link to mp3 files don't belong in any section

Dunno, if it's a sound clip... Why would it be different from a photo or video? But you should propbably only link to the page with the clips, not the mp3-files directly (as with .mov files).

It is not mp3 profiler or sound profiler even photo's should not be there, there should be a clearer defintion what is allowed as link and what is not.
Another problem I noticed is that Apple Trailers and some main official websites are there only for a short term average 2 to 3 years (Fox, ...)

There are no links to individual files here, only different (sub)pages, Ideally, you should only have to link to the top page, which is exactly what I said. But I've seen cases where individual trailers are not referenced from the main page, so you can't assume anything just by looking at the URLs, you have to check out the pages yourself. Google is a good way of finding "hidden" trailers that you might otherwise overlook if you only look at the main page.

That's your personal preference and has no place here. The description makes no exclusive reference to sound, video or otherwise.

And yes, links might be time sensitive, so what? We're not carving in stone here. Simply mark them for deletion when they have expired. Some of these pages have been around for 5-10 years so let's not assume problems before they exist.

I daresay I have to agree with Patsa on this. The section is called Trailers/Clips. Trailers are ONE thing and Clips are something entirely different and can be video OR audio in nature.

I have yet to see Ken attempt to narrow that definition to strictly Video Clips, that would likely open a whole other can of worms. I appreciate every users personal preferences and biases but they just that PERSONAL prefernces and they have no business in anything relating to the Online. The ONLY question is does the clip, in whatever form pertain to the title, if the answer is yes, then it is fine.

Ok. Thanks!

Quoting Agrare:

when you attach a link to the profile, if you connect it by title/production year it will show up on all the profiles that have that title (or original title) and production year. This could include profiles in other localities. So the no vote you are seeing is from someone who owns one of these profiles, and since you don't have the profile in your collection it doesn't let you bring up that page on it.

I have a couple of these too. As others stated, i put an English link for an movie produced in English and someone with a netherlands copy put a negative on it. Per the rules its a valid link, they just don't like it cause its not in their language. Thats most of them, one looks like its because someone else posted the same link after me in a version without %27

Improvement Suggestion:

When it comes to voting yes/no on links it would be helpful if if there was some way to know if the listed links are for the "This Profile Only" or for "Title and Production Year."

When the language of the website matches the locality of the movie it's not a problem, but when that's not the case it's hard to know if the link is legit or not.

Example:
The Criterion edition of Yojimbo, a Japanese movie, has a lot of English language links. If those links are set to "This Profile Only" they're finet, but if they're set to "Title ad Production Year" they are incorrect and should be removed. With the way things are right now I can't tell which is the case.

Votes of valid/invalid links are assigned to that particular profile/link combination only.  Further, if the submitter chooses to remove the link by the option in their link feedback page, only that profile will be unlinked.

This has left me "negative feedback" on links that I had previously removed.

They show up in my "negative feedback list, however, I can no longer remove them since they are no longer linked to "my" profile.

You should be able to remove anything that shows up on the feedback page by clicking the delete icon on that page.  What happens when you try?

Duh....

I didn't even notice that they could be deleted there.  I was going to the actual profiles where the link was and deleting it there.

They are now deleted.

Thanks.

I haven't really paid attention to the discussions here in the Profile Links forum, so maybe this has already been discussed:
Regarding the IMDb links: I would only save the IMDB number itself (e.g. tt0451991). You can also leave it as is but then I would dictate one variant (i.e. http://www.imdb.com/...) for the online database. I assume the links will be part of the profiles in Profiler 3.5. Making one standard or only using the number itself, the user could be given the possibility in DVD Profiler, to link to a localized version of IMDB. For example http://german.imdb.com/tt0451991, or my favorite as it displays all alternative/localized titles of a movie: http://aka.imdb.com/tt0451991.
