Could someone please explain to me how you would transfer screen shots from the Images of Movies site and import them into DVD Profiler

Personally I use FlashGot, a download add-on for Firefox. That way you can quite easily download the images you want, with only one click per movie. But you don't have to download all available images of all movies (like the HTTrack method).

So, that's my way:

  • First of all the gallery window has to be active (Ctrl+G or "View --> Windows --> Gallery").
  • Search for the movie and click on the gallery tab (if it isn't already visible).
  • Click on the little folder icon. That creates and opens a folder in the correct destination named after the movie's UPC/EAN.
  • Copy the full folder path to the clipboard (Ctrl+C).
  • Inside your browser click on the FlashGot icon (in the menu bar or right click inside the window).
  • Paste the folder path (Ctrl+V) in the "Save in" field and filter for images (deselect the ones you don't like).
  • Click "Start!" or "Queue!" and voilá

  • I use DownThemAll! (honestly, it's not "Down The Mall"), and use essentially the same process as above. It gives the option of saving all files/images on a page, all links on a page, or a filtered subset of each. When grabbing from surfeur's site I grab all links (gets me 10 full-size images in one go). From DVD Beaver, I generally don't want the full 1080 rez screenshots, so will get the "thumbnail" images (which are still large enough for the purposes of the gallery).

DownThemAll! integrates into the right-click menu too, as well as coming up in your options along with "Save As" when you click on links to download.

Damn, you're right. That's what I use, too

FlashGot is just a download manager integration for Firefox... I have both add-ons installed and configured FlashGot to use DTA by default.

I guess I have to get more sleep...

    Awesome!

I should have some more in the coming days, too, possibly.

Surely removing the black bars means you will have to change the size of the gallery screen depending on the movie?

This is the main reason to leave black bars. The size ratio of the gallery window is that of a 16/9 TV, and black bars are just what is on screen.

What is a "gallery screen"? Can't the gallery window have (almost) any size you want? And don't the black bars depend on the size of your TV? And on your specific home-theatre release of the movie?

Surfeur's images are always the same size, meaning they al fit in the gallery window without distortion. Just like on a 16/9 television. The gallery window will show the same black bars as your television set.
Should the black bars be removed, the gallery window would stretch and thus distort your images.

To show the varying aspect ratios in your gallery window without black bars you will either have to repeatedly change the size of the window or put up with squeezed/cropped screencaps.

Surfeur - We seem to have a lot of the same movies. I'm only as far as Duel

For those that are looking for Blu-ray screenshots (they show a bit more detail and better contrast in general), I find this site useful:

Thanks. If there's anything you want from mine in exchange, LMK though I might not get around to it until January as I'm offshore in the North Sea from Friday until the 29th

Of interest to you might be the Shameless Entertainment releases I have and maybe some of the Blue Underground/AB (when they were good) stuff.

I still have about 400 releases to add most of which are the more... ummm... cult stuff.
