Just bought a Stephen King Multi-Feature (Rose Red, Desperation, Storm of the Century, Riding the Bullet), UPC (#031398123309) does not exist in the DVD Profiler database so I'm attempting to create the profile for this multi-feaure plus the Child Profiles.  Cannot find an instructional on how to create Child Profiles anywhere.  I find rules but no 'How To' instructionals.  As far as I know this multi-feature has been out for awhile, I assumed it would be in the database but it's not.

This is a keep case containing the 4 movies on their own discs (Rose Red on 2 discs, Desperation and Riding the Bullet on their own individual discs, Storm of the Century, Part 1 on one side, Part 2 on the other side of a flipper disc.

I haven't the vaguest idea how to create these child profiles.  I'm guessing that I don't add them as separate discs in the Parent Profile, so what do I do?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!      -kd5-

By disc id and if the disc aren't in the database you just need to uncheck "download from Invelos" and enter the title/region/locality in their fields and it's done.

I would add them this way

Rose Red (first disc only, second one enter when doing the profile for that film)
Desperation (with its disc)
Riding the Bullet (with its disc)
Storm of the Century (with the part one side and second side enter when doing the profile)

So it's four profiles to create by disc id with 2 others disc to add in the disc area of the profile edit screen after the profiles are created.

Thank you.

Sounds like a typical upload to DVDP, only by Disc ID instead of by UPC, but how do I tie them to the Parent profile once they're in there?  Also, I already have Rose Red in my database, with no intention of removing that DVD yet, how would I keep that as well as tie it into the parent profile for this Multi-Feature?

So if those profiles aren't in my database I uncheck "Download from Invelos"?  Then I'm assuming I download the profiles for them once I've tied them to the parent profile?

My previous questions still stand:  How do I tie them to the parent profile, and what about Rose Red?

You do it on that screen

You select the profiles in the list and you asign them to the set.

So if you did it as I said I would.

You asign the profile of Rose Red, Desperation, Riding the Bullet and Storm of the Century on that screen and they will be child profiles for your Stephen King set.

For the ones on two discs or two sides you'll do it on that screen

Rose Red : one disc for the first part and another one for the part 2
Storm of the Century : one disc only (part 1 on side A and part 2 on side B)

You will get four empty profiles (except for the disc id and the title) that you will have to create.

I'd also suggest not to create them from scratch as they all have profiles.  Just download them  and then you can make any needed changes after validating all of the data.  If the disc IDs More than likely they are the same exact discs that have been previously released so all you would need to do is change the UPC to the DiscID (it doesn't appear that any of those titles have individual releases using the disc ID as the UPC.  So all you'd have to change is the cover art, edition, SRP & release date as well as verify the rest of the information.

Sure but I'm a guy who always do his profiles from scratch, so it's my usual procedure

I've got the discs scanned and tied to the parent profile, now how do I download the profiles for the individual movies?  I've tried several times, DVD Profiler won't download the profile information for the Child Profiles.  This is starting to piss me off.  Nothing should be this much of a pain.  I do NOT want to manually create profiles for the individual movies, I shouldn't have to.  That would be a time consuming pain in the butt.

You mean you people go through this EVERY TIME you create a profile/profiles for a multi feature DVD/BD?

How do I get front/back images for these movies?

You've done this already, right? Parent profile > Edit > Box Set > Enter each child by the disc id.

If the data for the Child profile is not in the database you won't be able to download it.

What you can do is to find each of the films that ARE in the database and temporarily add them.

Copy any/all  of the data from those profiles and paste them onto the relevant child.

Edit: As far as the covers go - the children get the parent cover. Unless of course each child has their own cover scan in the box set.

It won't, as I wrote yesterday you must create them since they aren't in the database. You can do as Kathy said and use an existing profile as a starting point to decrease the ammount of works needed.

Yes, I don't use the database so everything I own is done by me (I even create manual profiles when two movies are on same dvd side)

By scanning them yourself since they aren't in the database. But you just need to do it for the parent profile and copy it for the children profiles as they share the same box.

OK, I guess I have my work cut out for me.  Thanks for all your help, I've contibuted individual profiles before but never a parent with several children.  I hope the finished product will be acceptable, only (much) time will tell.  I have 2 jobs I have to work around which (hopefully) explains my attitude in my last post.  Sorry if I offended anyone.

I didn't even read your post as offensive so don't worry about that. I know that DVDP can be frustrating sometimes as we have no manual and we never know if we will start a storm by asking a question

I'm always happy to help when I can

If the profiles don't already exist, you cant.  You can, however, do what DoubleDown suggested.

You don't have to, but someone has to.

If the child level profiles don't already exist, yes, every time.

Well, I've done as much work on this as I feel comfortable with (which isn't everything, by any stretch).  I have one last question, and this is specific to this DVD.  As far as the title goes, I was going to call this Stephen King Multi-Feature which would be IMHO preferable to having a title like Stephen King's Rose Red/Stephen King's Desperation/Stephen King's Storm of the Century/Stephen King's Riding the Bullet.  If however the rules prohibit my use of the title Stephen King Multi-Feature, then I'll have have no choice but to use the mile-long title.  Here is an image of the cover:

If I am to use the mile-long title, would I then use Multi-Feature in the Edition field?

What say you?  (and Thanks!)

What is written on the side? I ask because I don't think you can use Stephen King as his name doesn't appear on the front cover (on the individual movie images but not the cover per se).
