You are right. On DVD release, probably Jyn Erso will be played by another actress than Felicity Jones...

The point is that we can't know how she will be credited on dvd

From Contribution rules:
"The authoritative source for information submitted should be the DVD itself."
"

this also includes UPC/EAN. I've seen DVD's that have changed distribution companies after 1 company is suppose to release it and it comes out under a different company UPC. So the prerelease profile is now a dead profile.  The Asylum Home Entertainment > Cinedigm Home Entertainment has done it.

Yes, and because the answer to your post was in mine that I had sent before, I did not see the interest to reexplain that we have also rules about uncredited cast, and that when there is no DVD, there are no DVD credits, and when there are no credits, uncredited cast is authorized.

No. When there is no DVD there is no credited or uncredited cast, we simply can't know.

People who saw the movie in theater perfectly know. Just people here do not want anything except from DVD. With your reasoning, prerelease contributions should not exist, since we do not know anything from the DVD (even title that can be T4xied ), specially errors in covers cannot be anticipated. Since prerelease contributions are accepted, not verified data can be used, and corrected later, after the release.

People who saw the movie in theater can't know how will be the credits in dvd edition.
DVD profiler is a DVD/BD database, not a film database.
Prerelease contributions shouldn't be accepted and unverified data should never be used for any contribution, or show me where in contribution rules is contemplated this possibility.
Fake covers and unverified data should remain local.

Is this Invelos' position???
If yes, by whom are those prereleases accepted in the database ?

That is your opinion, but this is against the facts: DVD Profiler can easily profile a movie on VHS or laserdisc, but is totally unable to profile correctly a data DVD, a GPS DVD, a game DVD, a Wii DVD...

Imo Its false advertising if it raises expectations that aren't met. I sincerely doubt anyone who visits the homepage expects the program to be able to profile navigation software. Anyway that is really besides the point, isn't it? It is marketed as a program for collectors of dvd and bluray media. So I agree with Kluge in that respect. That it is a dvd/bluray database doesn't mean that it therefore has to be suitable for all kinds of software/content.

I agree. They expect to profile movies, because, in fact, it is a movie database, and not a dvd database...

Nope. Given the description on the homepage I think they would expect to profile movies on blurays and dvds actually. But I suppose its hard to determine with any accuracy what the majority expects without asking a whole lot more people than those that voice their opinions here.

You continuously stating that it is a movie database certainly doesn't make it so. Anymore so than anyone else stating otherwise. But if it was a movie database why would we have so many profiles of the same movie? You would only need one, or a few at most for different cuts or whatever. The fact that we do have various profiles of the same movie, depending on locality and release/EAN and that we even have profiles for tv-series at disc level is proof in itself that, at least for the moment, it is the dvd/bluray and their case that we profile.

What do you actually base your "in fact" on?

With dvdprofiler you can profile all sort of movies/series whatever the physical or numerical medium (blu-ray, dvd, vhs, laserdisc, streaming...), but you cannot profile all sorts of dvds. And most fields concern movie data, very few concern dvd characteristics. We have many profiles of the same movie mainly because most movies have different titles in different countries, using local languages.

Movies with exactly the same title in exactly the same language in exactly the same locality get their own profile if they are rereleased with a different EAN. And different releases of the same movie or series in the same locality also tend to get their own EAN. For example regular edition, collectors edition with more extra's, combo edition and so on. These all get their own profile. That most fields concern movie/tv data is obvious because that is the kind of dvd the program was written for.

If a movie or documentary does not get released on dvd for whatever reason it does not get a profile. As I suspect is the case for quite a lot of TV documentaries. Tv documentaries that do get released on dvd on the other hand do get a profile.

I don't stream myself, but I am pretty sure that you cannot contribute stream profiles to the invelos database.
