You're correct, I cannot upvote other people's problem either:

So where does that leave us?

Was this problem reported a year ago and nothing has happened since?

Was the recent C# compilation sent to MS as "similar feedback"?

I see. I assume you sent this as additional info to MS?

Do you receive any sort of feedback or do you only get a generic e-mail saying they have received your "error report"?

I just have this gloomy feeling this isn't getting where we want it.
I mean, why can't people upvote this at least, seeing this concerns everyone using their (damn) OS.

Maybe if several of us would report the same problem, then?

Karsten, here is another web site that provides source code and a small Windows command line program (dvdid-0.1.1-win32.zip) to calculate the DVD id: http://dvdid.cjkey.org.uk/

The above site was also cloned on Github: https://github.com/rdp/dvdid

I've tested the Windows command line program dvdid.exe on XP, Win7 and various Win10 versions and it appears to be accurate. AnyDVD software will interfere with the command line program, so AnyDVD needs to be disabled for it to work properly.

NOTE:
Interestingly, when AnyDVD was enabled on my Win 7 platform, the dvdid.exe program reported a BAD DVD Disc ID.
When AnyDVD was disabled, the dvdid.exe program reported the GOOD DVD Disc ID.

In order to figure it out, I created an ISO image (region free) of the original region coded DVD using AnyDVD software.

After disabling AnyDVD, I did the following:
+ burnt a new DVD using the cracked ISO image created by AnyDVD
+ visually compared the files on burnt DVD with original DVD  (no differences - file sizes, names, date/time stamps, volume name and voulme size were identical).
+ ran dvdid.exe on burnt DVD and got the same BAD DVD Disc ID that was reported on original DVD when AnyDVD was ENABLED!
+ used a tool to compare the contents of each file on the DVDs and found only one file different, the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.
Several bytes inside this file had changed values without alteration to the file size.  My only conclusion was that these bytes stored the region coding information of the DVD.

As you are aware, the byte contents of this file is an input variable in the DVD's 64bit CRC calculations.

So, when AnyDVD misreported the DVD DiscID in the past, I suspect it was the DiscID for the cracked (region free) DVD.

That's where I "borrowed" the idea for my code from  (but I did credit them)

Just FYI: AnyDVD and other such tools do more than make the DVD region free. Basically, the copy protection changes certain information on the disc that makes it basically invalid data when read straight-forward. With the correct decryption key you can unscramble this "corrupt" data and make it readable again. AnyDVD basically unscrambles the data before any user program retrieves the data and thus gets a different data stream than what is actually on the disc and in our case this leads to a different Disc Id.

At some point AnyDVD actually implemented a "leave me alone" list on which DVD Profiler was put on and since then DVD Profiler gets the original data from the disc without unscrambling it.

You can see it here in the version log for AnyDVD (version 6.3.1.2)

Any thoughts on how to contribute child profiles since Disc ID will be wrong?

(1) If you have the disc, use one of the tools that will be released. If the disc is available, DJDoena's code computes the correct discID. Bulkedit is one way that you can then use that discID to either create a child profile or update the discID of an included disc. See here.

(2) Use a pre-Win10 version  of windows.

Here.

The code will also be integrated into BulkEdit, HTTPJolie and maybe a small standalone tool. If you know how to compile the code, you can make the standalone tool yourself. If not, and you can't wait a few days, just scream and some developer will get it done sooner. If you can do it, that would be really appreciated if you make available to all.

Edit: I just noticed the post by ObiKen. Check that out also.

I can send you my old registered copy of AnyDVD that will allow you to find the right ID.

Thanks for your work on this problem guys I've now been hit by this too (I had the Win 10 version for ages of course, but had no external drive for this machine due to no real need).

Any progress on the tool/integration? It would probably also be a good candidate for DVDPca. But yeah, simplest would be a standalone plugin that does nothing but read the disc and set the disc id to Profile/A/B based on a selection. I have compiled DJDoenas code myself and actually modified it slightly so it automatically copies the detected disc id to the clipboard. But it's still pretty time-consuming going via BulkEdit for this.
