From my perspective, if we can't determine the production company then it's best to leave the CoO blank.  However, if the production company can be determine via valid resources then I'd argue that we should be able to contribute the CoO(s).

I agree with rdodolak.
If the CoO can be determined via some valid resource, other than the credits I would enter it.

If the CoO can be determined, I would enter it.  Same with entering a production company that can be determined via some valid resource.

I think a valid source works as long as what is supposed to be standard practice happens and the source is listed. That way iif someone has an issue with the info, as long as the source is known, discussion can happen and a consensus reached.

Well, in a few days the numbers have changed. Interesting. Now I don't feel so bad about researching CoO when no studio is listed in the credits.

Trivia: I ran a query to find how many profiles I had in my collection that had CoO listed without any studio listed. I came up with 370, and that didn't include TV shows. Not sure that one should draw any conclusions from that, though. It could just mean that people don't read the rules. But in all probability at least some of the contributors saw things like I do. Or at least that's what I tell myself ...
