I can only surmise that this is bug in the bot. While color info is a very simple piece of information, it's not so simple that you cannot get it wrong. I have seen that happen. So it should be voted on. I think it's always been the case that adding colour is instantly approved.
I can't remember the last time contributed a profile update which was only colour information and it wasn't instantly approved.
