So, I was wondering what people have used DVDP for other than DVD's BR VHS media.
I had to do a major clean up/out for some renovations and I have Totes and totes of D&d books/modules/etc and was wondering about an app/program to use to keep a collection just to know what I have in general.
I recall folks making a local only DB, kinda wondering if you are loading/unloading DB's or are you using different installs for the custom DB.

So working through my Bluray mess, I noticed another oddity in the Star Wars movies, almost all of the movies have the small "Star Wars" above the movie title, but the exception to this are Rouge One and Solo have under the title "A Star Wars Story"
Just a little hummm.. It is amazing how much has come back to after all these years not using the PC app.

Yep, I use a lot of custom stuff in the sort by field, As an example I have all my James Bond movie sorted in a way its by release order.
But as it stands in the current DB from when I added them there is a naming discrepancy.
Thanks to all,

So started doing some maintance and I noticed something with the titles.
The Mandalorian: the complete first season The Mandalorian: the complete second season Star Wars: The Mandalorian : the complete third season
So should they all be star wars erc or just the Mandalorian ?
Is been eons since I have done and contribs and outside of cover photos and cast that's been most of my Contribution to the DB.

So, after some time I finally got my PC DB restored and the DB moved from my old Galaxy Note 8 to my Note 20 Ultra.
So many years ago my laptop took a dirt nap (non HD hardware failure) and at the time I wasn't going to replace it, I had DVDP on my cell phone and that was OK enough for what I was doing at the time. Sometime later pulling some stuff off the old HD I saw that my DB back up was needless to say way out of date VS what was current in DVDP itself. So again I put it off to the back burner.
At some point I replaced the Note 8 with the Note 20 and the Samsung switch app moved the apk over but for some reason the DB didn't make it. Dug into it a bit and never got a good answer to that issue so I used the Note 8 to keep something current.
A few months ago I started looking at building a media PC and wanting to get DVDP back up and running and getting it current with the DB/collection on my phone.
Found out that I could make a fresh install on the media box, then copied over the folders from the Dead PCs docs folders. Shockingly this went damn near flawless but did need to run the DB Repair utility. Next was to attempt to push a DB to the note 20 and that also went about as flawless as one could expect.
So next was to update from the Note 8 to the PC, triple checking the settings and hit update, and it took a bit and it works mostly, there were some cover image issues but the collection seemed to have moved to the PC without major issues.
Did a DB backup, did a refresh profiles ( this fixed the cover image issues) backed up the DB again and all seems to be good.
DVDP is working on the Note 20 so far, even in Dex mode on the phone, there are some quirky display issues every now and then that cause you to have to restart the app. I am going to start digging into the PC install to see how my reports managed the move and some plug ins I use to use a lot ( Cast and Crew editor)
So there are ways to recover from being lazy with backups :/
What really started all this was me looking into ripping my collection to HD as I have had a few die from rot and I would kinda like to move the 6 995's to storage and clean up my piles of media not in players ( the BR collection is all on shelves). This is going to be a project that's for sure, and while I am super out of practice I would love to build a setup like I did for taking all my CD's to MP3's back in the day ( tower with 6 CD readers and some scripts to rip, name/tag and structured folder system.
Anyways, I just wanted to post a DVDP DB / Android success story. | Posted: Topic Replies: 0, Topic Views: 193 |

The first thing that comes to mind for me is you may have issues in the counts in parent/child profiles VS what you enter into excel.
Depending on the info you put into your excel sheet, you could sort by collection number and spot check every 10-20 profiles to see if you still on track with your number syncing, or by add/purchase dates. As you confirm your counts you can put in a break or note as your new starting place to check from.
As I just got my PC DB back up an running after being stupid lazy about getting it fix/sorted I would look into generating reports and print to pdf and then you should be able to copy that info into another excel sheet to run a script to compare 2 sheets.
Good luck

Yep, I am looking in backing up as I have been find disc rot in some disc's, so far only 2 Blurays.
I have a 100 or so DVD's that I backed up to ISO's when I started thinking about a Nas I was looking at something in the 15 to 20TB of storage but I think my pile has gotten to needing more like 25-30TB.
Way back in the dark ages when I ripped all my CD's to MP#'s I set up a tower with 6-8 CD' s and set up batch processing to run while I was at work. It would be nice to cobble together something along those lines for the movies.

Quote: From what I recall, Google removed the app since it hadn't been updated in X years. Not being able to move the apps easily between devices is due to Android's design, but applications like Samsung's SmartSwitch will transfer the app to your new device or you can attempt to sideload the app.
Yep the Samsung Switch app did get the app to my newer phone Note 20 Ultra, but the DB was not ported over.
It would be nice/interesting to have a tool to move the DB from one phone to another, UNfortunally I haven't used the desktop app in a dogs age after my Desktop and laptop died in reaativity short span. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 3946 |
