I have encountered quite a bit of disc rot among my older DVDs and even a few Blu-rays. I would say I am currently at around 10% of my older discs that have rot. I assume the newer the discs, the less disc rot I will encounter.
So I'm doing this to avoid more and more issues with rot... | Posted: Topic Replies: 15, Topic Views: 8569 | | Quoting mediadogg:

What is the advantage over ripping to ISO? No, MakeMKV does not preserve menus. But it will extract all videos. For a disc with a feature and several other video presentations you get a separate MKV for each of those; incl. the little snippets for studios or Dolby Digital etc. There's a setting for the shortest video to be extracted. With a software like Plex or Emby, these will still be organized nicely.
I am going basically the same route as Dr. Killpatient and I decided for MKV, because it seemed easier to deal with. But now you make me give pause and considering starting over with ISOs ( despite being a quarter into my collection...), I should investigate a little how playback will go. The MKVs can be opened with a variety of software, haven't looked into ISO yet. | Posted: Topic Replies: 15, Topic Views: 8569 | | I have the problem too. More details in DM. | Posted: Topic Replies: 315, Topic Views: 46094 | | I also have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and encounter the same problem. There are three cameras in these phones and I guess DVDP is using the wrong one... | Posted: Topic Replies: 1, Topic Views: 2532 | | Thank you! | Posted: Topic Replies: 100, Topic Views: 46975 | |
