| Posted: | | | | I am noticing some odd behavior with 3.8 which leads me to believe there might be some memory(?) issues. First, in general it has become very very slow. Starting, backups etc. Second, is odd profile grid behavior. A great example of this is, with the grid sorted by Title and with with 1st one selected '(500) Days of Summer' i then simply type in 'con' wanting dvdProfiler to jump to the first profile starting with 'con'. Now this has always worked until i started noticing this just recently. What i get is that it first jumps to 'Nacho Libre' then it moves a couple of times until it comes to rest with 'Cabaret' at the top of the grid. Notice that no where in the grid is there a 'con' showing. BUT 'Nacho Libre' IS selected (if you scroll down you will see it blue) and the profile data displaying is for 'Nacho Libre'. Note from this image that the SORT for lNacho Libre' IS 'Nacho Libre' Yes .. i have done several database repairs .. in fact running another one as I type. Nothing seems to help this. So what is going on? I only have some 1900 profiles. I have been adding a lot of gallery images to profiles but since they are stored in directories it should not be effecting the system that much. | Posted: | | | | I have just tried rebooting but that didn't help anything (man starting dvdProfiler takes a while).
And just so there is no confusion .. this behavior happens for any entry. If i enter 'Night' it jumps to 'Hackers' but shows 'Murphy's Romance'
Just for grins I tried the 'filter' at the top of the screen and entered 'into' in the Title field (Search within title is checked). It came up with Into the Wild ... good McLintock .. good Pan's Labyrinth ... ???
Anyway .. something is not working correctly

| Posted: | | | | OK, I never use this kind of feature, i nnormally use the filters right above the list, it just seamed easier. When I type "Con" in a fluent way, it jumps from "Capatin America" to "Collateral" to "Con Air" When I type C *beat* O *beat* N it jumps from "Captain America" to "Oben" to "Nobody ist der Größte". Hence why it would jumpt to "Nacho Libre" for you. Not sure why it scrolls back to Cabaret (your first C title I presume). Just use the title filter above | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Now this has always worked until i started noticing this just recently. Sorry for having to correct you: No it hasn't! It has always worked liked the way it does now. When filtering directly in the collection list (not in the filters) only one letter at a time is working. So in your example the "C" will take you to the first entry starting with "C", the "O" will take you to the first entry starting with "O", subsequently your last letter "N" takes you to the first entry starting with "N", which, in your case, is "Nacho Libre". When trying to filter for "Con" use the title filter as suggested by DJDoena. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Not entirely. When you type fast enough *tacktacktack* it will actually lead you to the word. But you must not hesitate or else the search wil be restetted.
I just don't see the point in using the list like that. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

DSig The original title for Pan's Labyrinth is "El Laber into del Fauno" | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

The upload probably wasn't your best idea. Since it means that you just uploaded a blank collection to your online-collection and thereby lost the last-resource backup. The correct option would have been "Download". Hopefully your local collection isn't entirely lost. To find it perform a search for a file named "ACTORASSGN.DAT", the folder in which this file is, is the folder that contains your DVDProfiler database. Point DVDProfiler to this location (Menu: File -> Open Database...). If nothing is to be found you (again) hopefully performed the recommended backups and can restore your collection from it. If you don't have any backup-files you now know why they are important and have only one (very minimalistic) chance: Contact Ken Cole and ask him if he can restore your online collection from one of his backups. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! I just don't see the point in using the list like that. First .. yes that is the way it HAS worked. I type real fast and it always goes to Nacho. I believe the reason is that it has slowed down so much that it doesn't recognize it as 3 quick letters but a letter .. space .. letter ... space ... letter. As another example of the speed issue .. If i have the top profile 'selected' (highlighted .. no check box) and then select the 10th one in the list .. the information changes pretty quickly BUT the selected item does not get highlighted for probably 1.5 to 2 seconds. Once again this is an indication of a problem. Second..you say you dont see any reason to use it this way. What if you don't necessarily WANT a movie that starts with CON but you want to have the collection page down to that area. THAT is why I want this behavior. It is not working as it has. Period. The original title for Pan's Labyrinth is "El Laberinto del Fauno" Ken .. thanks for that ..it would explain it. So for that 'issue' the filter looks at TITLE, ORIGINAL TITLE and SORT TITLE. Correct? Any ideas on the other 'problems'. DSig |

| Posted: | | | | If you have the list highlighted it will go from the 1st title with the 1st letter then the 1st title with the 2nd letter etc. If you have the filter highlighted and you enter the word "con" it will list all the titles which contain "con". | | | Last edited: by Billycan |

As i have said above, in the past i could enter CON and it would go to the section starting with CON. Not the C then the O then the N. As I didn't have the filter on the layout for quite a while i never used it. So this seems to be different behavior Thanks though DSig | | | Last edited: by dtsig |

| Posted: | | | | It's because you have the filters available that has changed the behaviour. Turn them off to go back to the way it was. |

Sorry no .. i took filters out of the layout and CON still takes me to Nacho Libre and the top profile in the list is Cabaret and the bottom is Charade. Neither is a CON And i have had the filters available for a while. DSig | | | Last edited: by dtsig |
