| Posted: | | | | Hi,
regarding the beta feature "Play All": Is it reasonable to assume that if Disc 1 has a "Play All" feature that every disc has a play all feature. Or do I have to check every disc by itself?
And what would happen if one disc did not have a Play All for whatever reason, does the season profile then get the Play All checkmark?
Does it count as Play All when the first discs all have Play All but last disc of the season only contains one episode and does not have an explicit Play all button?
To use a prominent Youtube video phrase: Let me know in the comments below! | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Well, I was wondering what is exactly this feature. I have never seen it on any movie, even most recent ones. What does it do exactly ? | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | It's not for movies, it's for TV series. You pop in a disc containing 4 episodes and you just want to binge. So you hit play all and can watch for three straight ours. For example: | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

In another hand, I have many movies with different versions (theater, extended, Director's cut...) on the same disc, and I'll use the field for that, which is much more useful, as soon as the master translation file is available. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | In my experience at least....whenever there was a play all on one disc in the set... it was on all of them.
While it is hard to say anything for sure...until rules are written for the field... I would say you do like you would any feature... on TV series if it is on even one disc it would also go in the parent. For example look at trailers... they are usually only on one disc but it gets put on the disc profile as well as the parent profile. Same for when there is only 1 featurette... 1 commentary... what have you. The parent profile would be anything that is available anywhere in the set. | | | Pete |

Got to love the translations for unneeded fields! | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Oh! I thought this means those "Season Play"-Things that are on some TV shows like Lost. Where you can play an entire season, and the java-thingie on the discs remembers where you were and tells you which disc to put in etc.
That would be a feature i could understand if somebody wants to track those. A "Play All" Button that just starts all episodes on a disc is hardly a feature to me and even less a feature worth tracking? Or how many times did you stand in front of a collection thinking "oh i want to watch a TV show where all epsiodes on a disc can run with just one click! if only there was a way of tracking that!" |

| Posted: | | | | I am thrilled with this new feature and definitely have decided what to watched based on it at times. No feature is for everyone....but every feature is for someone. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I know that when I was reviewing DVDs the absence of a Play All button for TV series would seriously annoy me. Noting its presence in profiles is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Bump.
Just curious if there's some kind of consensus on what this is used for or do should we wait to contribute to the database until it's written in the rules (and given the current state of things, we could be waiting years). I've submitted a few for the likes of Supergirl which has a "Play" option which will play all the episodes on that disc, I assume that applies? That is primarily why this was added, right?
Just in a (very) minor dispute so was curious if I should contribute or wait for it to be written in the rules. |
