Only 32 pussies to go and you'll be top of the pile, Cliff! I wasn't looking to be on top of the list, just in the list... Thank you, Richie! | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Quoting bbursiek: Quote: I am so disappointed in the behavior of people on these types of issues. Most people aren't so flagrant about their intention to violate the rules as you seem to be. Quote: The notion of using the rules as a waepon for rubbing people's faces in things etc. is so juvenile and pathetic. The purpose of the rules is to create guidelines for contributions and to create consistency in the database. For the most part they seem to work quite well. Rules are not guidelines which can be ignored upon the whim of any user. People refusing to abide by the previous guidlines are precisely why they were made into rules. Quote: To me the purpose of voting is to give Ken guidance on what the users feel the rules are in a particular case AND/OR whether an exception to the rules should be made in a specific case. I agree that as written the rules seem to require the removal of "Episode" from the title of the Star Wars DVDs --- however I think that result is silly in this case as we also all know that the movies (at least I-III) do include "Episode" in their titles. You think following the rules is silly in this case. Find. Keep things the way you want them in your local database and lock your titles. Deliberately ignoring a rule because you do not agree with it, however, is not silly it is unacceptable. Quote: Please let us agree to stop this silly back and forth on both sides and stop making contributions for silly reasons. and then let things go if your honest contributions are declined. I also think that threatening people for not voting according to your wishes is wrong. If you deliberately contribute something that you know violates the rules, that can hardly be considered an "honest contribution." Rule violations SHOULD be declined - otherwise, what is the point of having a rule. Quote: The person voting should vote what they want the result to be (otherwise why vote? - Ken decides the rules not us) -- whether they want that result because they feel the rules require it or because they feel an exception is warranted. Not true. The rules state that: If a user is following the Contribution Rules and his/her data is accurate, and the contribution replaces data which is inaccurate or violates these Contribution Rules, a "No" vote is considered an abuse of the voting privilege and should be avoided when possible. If someone votes they way that they want the result to be - and that result violates the rules, it's an abuse of the Rules and the voter can be banned. Quote: If Ken decides the Star Wars titles should be changed b/c the rules as written require it I will accept it. However I hope that he decides that the rules are resulting in a silly title in these cases and makes an exception in the case of the Star Wars movies.Brian And if you continue to contribute in violation of the Rules you can and should be banned from contributions. I couldn't care less what your opinion is about the rules. I couldn't care less if you feel "Episode" should be in the title - since it doesn't belong there according to the rules. No one is trying to force you to exclude it from your personal database, just from the online database. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. | Posted: | | | | I agree with Ken on all points.
To magnify it further, I not only don't care what any user thinks about a Rule or the Rules in general, I don't even care what I think about them, I follow them. That is why I made the contribution, my personal opinion is completely and totally irrelevant, the ONLY place that any of our personal opinions should be reflected is within the confines of each of our LOCAL databases. The Rules were meant to be followed in both Contributions and in voting. As far as I am concerned if you are voting contrary to the Rules you should be banned from further participation in the vote process and that includes those involved in this particular set of titles, should it be temporary or permanent, or for how long I have no idea, but I have no tolerance for people who will not follow the Rules.

| Posted: | | | | I was going through the 'All Pending' in the voting section, to see how the voting was stacking up (whic is anywhere from 70-82% for the change), and noticed that out of the Nine Star Wars DVDs, that Skip contributed, that 4 have had the title locked by the community. I wonder if this is going to affect anything when the voting is closed on the contribution. | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | No it won't, the locks will not override the Rules.
I will also say that I see some very interesting name svoting NO. Some that I have known have absolutely no respect and others who are well known to believe themselves to be the arbiter of the Rules according their interpretation. Not surprising but very disappointing

I voted neutral because I can't support changes being made to ram anything down elseone else's throats. I don't believe this was done to improve the database, but to prove a point.
