This would be easier if the rule just said to enter the SRP rounded to the nearest dollar. Nobody cares about a few pennies anyway, and if the price fluctuates from source to source a few cents, it still rounds to the same thing. Who doesn't look at 19.98 and think 20 anyway. | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. Interestingly enough, in Australia we stopped using one and two cent coins some years ago. The smallest denomination that we have these days is a five cent coin. Prices are either rounded up or down to the nearest five cents. It doesn't stop retailers pricing things at $19.98 anyway. Oddly enough though, $19.98 is $20.00 for all intents and purposes. It's all marketing BS anyway. If they sell it for 19.95 they can crow about how it's LESS than $20. But they don't sell for 19.95 either. They tell you the SRP is 19.95, and sell for 14.62 (or whatever). Which makes this whole discussion superfluous. | | | Hans |

If the SRP was just entered as a rounded number, it's close enough to the actual SRP for all intents and purposes, especially since nobody actually pays that price (or shouldn't, imo). And if one site says 19.95 and another says 19.98, they both would be entered as 20, and we wouldn't need 17+ pages of discussion. And as for people thinking 19.98 is more like 19 than 20, well... Maybe I'm just special, 'cause I can see right through that. | | | "I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. Actually, Gunnar this concept was created over 50 years ago by Kodak for their television advertising, which would end with something like Priced under $20.. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! That is the point - he always bitched when people criticised his contributions, complaining they don't contribute, and that they should "get to work" instead! Skip Skip I am welcome until Ken/Gerri tells me otherwise. This is not your forum, you do not decide who is welcome or otherwise. Similiarly they are not your rules, and so you are not the judge of who has followed them and who has not. IMO I have followed the rules (as I have said repeatedl), the only bending I am seeing is yours - trying to bend the voters to your opinion of the rules. I know I am just one user of this program, you actions betray the fact that you have a far higher opinion of yourself... incorrectly. And before you try and argue it, look at this situation - of 33 votes, 29 want my contribution to be accepted, yet you in a minority of 4 are still demanding I withdraw it. Certainly not the action of someone who sees us all equal... | | | Andy

Skip Actually Ken could end the whole thread if he ir Gerri would just chime in and lock it or delete it. I know they are moving but they must see some productive discussion here because they have visited the forums lately. So something positive must exist here. | | | Brian |

| Posted: | | | | as I said... going by how I personally read it... it is against the rules to make a change of only a few cents. But I personally don't like the idea of rounding it to the nearest dollar.
What I personally would do is leave the rule as is... with the exception that you can change it to the correct SRP if you can give a link to the studio's press release for that title. That way we can have a chance of getting good accurate information into the SRP field instead of basically all profiles having SRP that isn't accurate... even if only off by a few cents. | | | Pete |

I understand what you arer saying, pete, and in theory I would not object, other than to say that in ANY event a several penny change in SRP is absolutely irrelevant and brings absolutely no value to the database, not even in the interest of accuracy. There is no difference between 28.99 and 28.98, it doesn't even change the amount of sale tax paid. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
