Hi, I just downloaded and installed your plugin. I was waiting for such an option for a long time thanks. Just a question : is it possible to make e-mails being sent automatically ? I mean : for the moment you have to select the dvd that are over due and then acknowledge the sending. I wish I had not to worry about that. Is is possible ? Thanks again. Loom |

The topic was already there. Thanks for repeating it here. Anyway, I have been thinking about your request, and at this point I'm not inclined to do it. The reason is that I think it will take a lot of extra programming, for what appears to be mostly convenience. But I welcome any different point of view you might have. For example, I would have to: - Allow some way to specify frequency of checking, and save your options - Make sure that once an email goes out, another one is not sent until the right time In my plugins I try to avoid doing anything that requires that my program makes changes to the database (user changes are OK). I think in this case I would need to save the status of the email reminder somewhere in the database, or an alternate file. So, once again, it seems like a lot of work to save a couple of mouse clicks. But if I have missed your idea, please feel free to correct my understanding or propose some other way of doing it. I'm always open to other points of view. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |

| Posted: | | | | Hi and thanks for the answer... I think you're right... I didn't think about it in that way, but indeed it seems to be complicated... Nevermind, your plugin is already fine as it is now, and I'm going to use it anyway. I hope to hear about more new plugins from you soon |

| Posted: | | | | edit: I'm an idiot. As I stated in the opening paragraph of this post, I don't use this plugin so I had no idea that what I suggested is actually how it already works. Heh. Move along, move along, there's nothing to see here. --- I don't use this plugin, but thought of something that may accomodate Loom and others who are frequent lenders of their DVDs. Would it be possible to add the functionality of a mass e-mail sent only to those the user indicate should get an e-mail? In practice, this is how it would work: 1. The user would click on something like "Send loan return reminders" 2. A list of every title currently being lent out would be displayed. Next to each title would be the loan and due dates, the name of the person who loaned the DVD, as well as a checkbox. 3. The user would check the checkboxes of those who he wants to send an e-mail to and press OK. 4. A reminder e-mail would then go out to everyone who was checked off. This form could also have "Check All" and "Uncheck All" buttons. This would basically allow for heavy lenders to easily remind everyone, or a select number of people, to return the DVDs without having to do it on each individual title. Something which I imagine can get a little tedious if you've got dozens of titles out on loan at any given time. Just a thought. I have no idea if it is practical with this plugin or even doable. I hadn't learned how to do that until after I wrote this plugin. Nice upgrade suggestion. Will do as soon as possible. Thanks. Edit: hang on - answewred too soon. I looked at the code, and I'm saving a bunch of stuff - email body, CC, option checkmarks, ... What is it that you need that I'm not saving? Maybe there is a bug ... (oh I think I found it - you mean the database fields that go into the email body, right? - duh, you did say "parameters" - exactly what I call them - sorry, I forgot my own stuff) | | | Thanks for your support. Of course, as usual, do "good housekeeping" and (1) Backup database, (2) Uninstall old version, (3) Install new version. I hope it works for you. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | I cant seem to duplicate this , Ive changed the due dates to yesterday and set up another user for myself with a second email.Ive copied the smtp server directly from my account page and even added the user id and password as Deckard99 suggested. It seems to send but I dont recieve an email?
p.s. when adding the userid does it require the id or the full text including ****.verizon.net? | | | Last edited: by Mike |

I hope I got your question - not sure what you are trying to duplicate. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Not sure what to say. I'm assuming that if the plugin were broken, I'd have heard about it by now. So perhaps it's your system configuration. If you have more than one email address, maybe try another one, or send it to your cellphone as a double-check. Also, I assume you checked the "ok to send" and unchecked "preview" (might not have to do this - not at my DVDPro machine right now, and I forgot) , right? Edit: Haven't heard from Mike, but thanks to bredatle in following post (hmmm... prior post referring to following post - is that "Back To The Future"? | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | Just wanted to thank Jim/ mediadogg for the great plug-in, and also for bearing with me when I PM`ed to ask for help setting it up. Great work! This is the plug-in I wished I had from the get-go, maybe I wouldn`t have "lost" as many DVDs... but my collection is growing (too) rapidly as it is ;-) DVDeMail was just what I needed. Thanks again! |

| Posted: | | | | Hi, i tried out this plugin today. but i keep getting a send error.
So i was wondering:
1.Is there a way i can see more about this error (what exactly goes wrong)
I think this is because my ISP won't allow me to use the standard port voor outgoing mail.
My second question would be if there is a way to alter this port.
I would really like to get this working! |

I would really like to get this working! I'm not a real expert on email protocols. I used some built-in code that MS makes available in Visual Studio, and I tailored a sample app I found on the internet. Would looking at the code help you? If so, I don't mind. Then if you see what needs changing, I can go from there. If not, perhaps I can look into making a temporary diagnostic version that displays error messsages or something. Now after all that, I might just remind you that you can set the SMTP server (maybe even MUSt set it). I'm not aware of any explicit port settings in my code. | | | Thanks for your support.
