Putting what the rules say about this aside, my personal preference is to only include the Features on the Child release if they are not present on the parent (assuming that the child release is a copy of the movie and not just a bonus features disc). You are incorrect. The rules are perfectly clear about this. Combos are to be entered as normal profiles which means that all features belong to the main profile. But you are allowed to use a child profile for the included lesser medium.
There are just 2-3 users who want to push their opinion and this is going on for years now. But they never got their way and are still hammering.
Those contributions which remove features from combo profiles are almost everytime rejected and if not the contributions which correct this are always accepted even with a few NO-votes. It's hysterical when you put "2-3 users" when literally the votes here are more than 3 to 1 in favor of what is clearly stated in the rules. Seems like you're looking in a mirror when you're pointing fingers. |

Seems like you're looking in a mirror when you're pointing fingers. It's exactly what it is. It's just you and one or two other American contributors who contribute like this. All other contributors I come across worldwide include the extras in the main profile where they belong. You know what's really hysterical? Someone who thinks that a poll in a rarely visited forum actually has any significance. And someone who doesn't realise that your way get's rejected all the time while entering all bonus to the main profile always goes through even with some of your fellow No-Voters trying to vote it down. Anyway, seems like I'm repeating myself. |

| | Posted: | | | | There is a reason, most of the remaining contributors put everything into the main (Main not parent for a reason!) profile.
OK, here is one simple question: Does the bonus material belong to a specific included cut or only to the included HD version or any other disc including the same movie or does it belong to the movie itself. If you think it belongs to the movie it should be clear where it should be mentioned.
But yes, there is one feature that usually belongs to a specific cut: an audio commentary. |

You're just completely talking without any logic--first you say it's 2 or 3 people, then I show you literally in this thread it's much more than that, then you say who cares about a poll (once you've been proven wrong), then you starting about some example in some run-on sentence that is nonsenical. I also disagree with "most" of the remaining contributors putting everything into the parent profile--I only see you and 1 or 2 other people do it. You're floundering here buddy and making no sense--grasping at straws and hypothethicals while others are pointing to the actual rules. If you include Blu-ray features on the UHD profile, but exclude Blu-ray audio and subtitle tracks, the metadata becomes inconsistent, which defeats the purpose of a profiling system to begin with. Although the child profile is optional, if the child profile is omitted, that’s just a user convenience choice, not a signal that the main profile should absorb the data. There is no logical extension that since the child profile is optional all the information should go there. There just isn't. |

But yes, there is one feature that usually belongs to a specific cut: an audio commentary. I agree with you as well and it's how US profiles always used to be profiled. We can also simply look at discs with only Bonus Materials as we don't create separate profiles for those discs. Those features are added to the main profile. The only exception is when a boxset has two or more films then film specific features get added to each individual film profile. Then we also add all disc IDs in the main profile when it comes to Combo releases. Quoting primetime21: Quote: Quoting DaMikstar:

There is no logical extension that since the child profile is optional all the information should go there. There just isn't. I disagree. An optional child profile is just that, optional, and it's not a user convenience choice to omit it. In fact, it's quite the opposite, it IS a user convenience to add the optional progile. It's pointless to agrue this because you're always going to vote no against contributions that don't align with your preference. It's just disappointing that you also choose to vote on profiles that you don't even own. The poll is also flawed because the only option you included is to list "all audio tracks" on the primary format which the rules are very clear about. For combo sets the audio tracks from the HD media are to be entered in the main profile. | | | | Last edited: by rdodolak |

I always wondered about that and it got me thinking. Was the standard rule for Disc IDs ("add disc information for each disc... ") the basis for adding both media into disc info or was it the selection of the second media type? Do standard rules for a normal profile cover a single main feature media type or multiple media types? When the combo set rule specified "normal profile for the main media type", did that imply standard rules applied only to a single media type? It didn't say "normal profile for both media types". |

Well, most of the contributors do it, just a few like primetime21 don't, and think they are right. Didn't you try to remove bonus materials from the main profile of a combo lately twice and it was rejected both times? I would think the checkers usually know what they are doing. Do you see Asian or Australian profiles/contributions? I do. I buy releases from all over the world. You on the other hand don't seem to know much outside of the USA, if any. I just see you and 1 or 2 other people trying to remove bonus materials. "Trying" because it usually gets rejected, whereas the addition goes through even with a few NO votes. But I see lots of combo profiles with bonus features that are only on the lesser medium. I see them added by different people. No one around here cares to remove them. To be honest, not many people even seem to care about child profiles for a lesser medium. There is no logical extension that since the child profile is optional all the information should go there. There just isn't. Let's try for beginners. There was a time when there was only one format in the case. Usually a DVD. Sometimes more if there were a lot of extras. This was a normal profile. Then there were more than one movie in a box, sometimes still on one disc. This was a box set, which required child profiles for each movie. And then came Combos. They weren't box sets at all. Just one movie on more than one medium. Sometimes there are different cuts, but it's still one movie. It doesn't make any sense not to include all features into the main and often only profile. These features all belong to the movie, not the format (4K/BD/DVD). Audio tracks and subtitles, in Europe runtime for DVD as well, on the other hand are specific to the medium. Therefore the details from the main medium go into the main profile, audio tracks and such for the lesser medium go into a child profile if one cares to add one. About the optional childs. They are optional to create, or better, you are allowed to add a child to the database for the lesser medium or a different cut where you can enter the specific details like audio tracks. You can compare this to TV shows. They are usually profiled by season and everything goes into the main profile, but you are allowed to create child profiles on disc level if you care for them. |
