Thanks |

Thanks Edited post: Thanks for the compliment. I just remembered that in fact BulkEdit does claim to import some Cast / Crew info via CSV. I see your next post, and I will respond further after that one. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | Wow. Thanks for the really fast reply.
A bit more detail.
I have a spreadsheet with hundreds of instructional magic DVDs. They are not, and will probably never be in the online DB. I would like to find a way to set up a DVD profiler DB rather than my excel spreadsheet. With BE I managed to get most fields to import (Title, Studio, even custom genres (ie. card, coins, etc.). What I can't do is find a way to import the magician's names. I tried to make them Director #1 and #2 as in the CSV export fields, but no go.
Any ideas for a strange request?

Thanks Not strange at all. That's what the tool was designed to do - I just forgot! Anyways, why not post a two or three sample records that I can copy and paste into a test file, and I will fix the bug. If you prefer to do it privately, just post them in a PM instead of here. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! - Corrected CSV import to now include Director1, Director2, Composer1, Composer2. Unfortunately, I also forgot to add those fields to the output selection list. I will fix this sometime in the future. - Fixed a couple of bugs relating to automatic manual profile ID generation when one is not supplied - Added automatic increment of collection number, starting after the highest one in the database, unless explicitly supplied in the data
In general, BulkEdit does not support Cast / Crew. The exception is XML and CSV import. For CSV import, I have stated that I will try to maintain a mirror of the CSV Export plugin: that is why CSV import is limited to Director1, Director2, Composer1, Composer2 for Cast / Crew. If or when CSV Export changes, I will try to stay in sync with it. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Soon I'll throw out some ideas for new things. |

Soon I'll throw out some ideas for new things. My pleasure. My priority is on bugs. I might not move as quickly on ideas, as I can't even keep up with my own. But feel free to share. You never know, your ideas might already be on the list, or be a useful tweak to something already in the works. You might also ask for something that is actually already there, or available with another suitable method. People like Mithi and D.J. Doena have lots of goodies and lots of knowledge, and often come forward with nice solutions. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Yeah, sometimes I'd wish the main program would be maintained this quick. @mediadogg: You should update your signature, the link to your free plugins doesn't work. | | | |

@mediadogg: You should update your signature, the link to your free plugins doesn't work. Oh, thanks on both counts. I recently moved my site, so I need to catch up on fixing some of the links in the Forum that I can still edit. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | BulkEdit V2.57 Available - Fixed a couple of bugs in CSV Import when UPC or ProfileID was missing. Now BE correctly creates a manual ID automatically, picking up from the highest numbered one found in the database. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | Hey Dogg,
Discovered a bug. After importing about 1500 manual ID DVDs a few weeks back with BE 2.56 I have now discovered that they all have a history of being loaned on Dec 31 1899 so they are all showing up as overdue with no actual due date or person loaned to. I can delete the history 1 by 1 and then they are clean, but a bit tedious. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andrew |

Andrew Ouch! Not sure why that happened. At some point I would like to see a sample of the file you imported from. I don't know why I would have created a Loan Event. I just checked a test database I was messing with, and in fact I had a blank user with a whole bunch of loaned items. I just deleted the user and all the events went away. So maybe try that: Tools > Edit Users > Loan Status | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! Did you figure out how that happened? Not yet. Main focus was to make sure a workaround exists. Now with that behind us, I can focus on a permanent fix - but without the urgency that gives the potential for creating a new bug. It would help to see a sample of file you imported - actually just the header is enough, so I know which fields were being parsed. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Also to note is that any custom Genres that were not already created in DVDProfiler were not imported and left blank. |
