There is nothing in the rules that says "as credited" in relation to the title. They also do not say "copy what is on the screen, include everything that is on the screen, don't omit anything that is on the screen" or a variation of that.

What it does say is:
Quote:
Use the title from the film's credits.

Also NOT:
Quote:
Use the title from the film's credits including the punctuation that is there to highlight it.

Stop making stuff that is not in the rules to justify something ridiculous that damages usability.

Follow your own advice, smart guy.  It also doesn't say NOT to include any punctuation that is there, nor does it say NOT to use "as credited."

What it does say, in fact, is to "use the title from the film's credits."  In the absence of any qualifiers that means use all of the film's title from the credits, whatever is there.  You need to stop making assumptions based on your own preferences, and stop telling everybody else what to do as if YOU are the only authority.  Wether or not it damages usability is, once again, just your opinion.  That opinion and a buck will get you coffer at Mickey D's.

Don't blame me for the fact that you are language challenged. the Rule is clera. Unlike you I don't rationalize and spin to create an interpretation that fits what i want to do. It says "Use the films credits, that means WYSIWYT, quotes or possessives are part of the film credits.

If you aren't used to my typos by now. It changes nothing\, Lopek you are attempting to apply an interpretatioin that simply doesn't fit the rules, but you have done that before.

There is no interpretation, lopek, the Rule is CLEAR. Just becauyse YOU don't get it is not my problem.

"Title
Use the title from the film's credits."

It's a seven letter sentence that answers the question and there are no qualifiers like you are attempting to apply. From the film's credits is very easy to comprehend.  I have suggested an option that will allow us to deal with both the desires of those who worry about substring use and also still recognizes the On screen data. Now if you want to be a part of solution instead of your usual role of being part of the problem...you are welcome.

Gee, I am laughing so much at your stupidity that my TFH fell off for a minute there. All corrected now... your craziness can no longer affect me.

Enjoy your unusable database - we are so lucky you are no longer contributing this junk.

Ken, please can you have a look at my stats - Skip who knows everything says that I have contributed ZERO, but my stats say otherwise. There is clearly an error in your coding somewhere.

All bow down to Skippy for all the work he does for us all.

I think this idea of Ken adding addtional fields is a winner.  But they shouldn't be text fields, they should be image fields.  We could do screen captures of the title "as credited".  Heck, we can even extend this concept to cast and crew, removing all ambiguity.  Of course the result will be a steaming pile of crap, from a database perspective, but at least we would have satisfied our cronically pendantic minority.

Not contributing is starting to look like the answer.  Not because I don't want to contribute, but rather that I'm not interested in keeping two separate databases; my accurate local one and my messed up online contribution version.  it's sad really.

I understand what you are saying, however that is to some degree unavaiodable. There is absolutely no way that the Online can meet the needs of each and every user, the Online has to serve EVERYBODY, it is your local database that is customized to YOUR particular requirements and includes data as you want to handle it. I have run parallel databases for years, much easier in 3.x

I am so UNIMPRESSED by your work most of which was automatic. You stopped Contributing 2 yearsago for all intents and purposes, you even resigned from here only to turn back up like the proverbial bad penny. And now you have taken to flagrantly ignoring the Rules.

Just as well I never contributed to impress you Skip.

As for the rest... blah blah blah blah... nothing but lies and the usual nastiness.

Edit: Damn TFH... they just don't last like they used to with the level of craziness around here.
