So in November Vinegar Syndrome release an "Ultra Limited Edition" 4K / Blu-ray combo set complete with custom packaging and booklet.  They've now released the same release with just the discs in the regular case and no booklet/custom packaging.

The problem is that is seems that the UPC is the same for both, since the custom package doesn't have its own UPC, it's just the UPC from the Disc case.

Since the Ultra Limited Edition already exists in the base, would I add the new release just by making an alternate profile to it?

I would say yes since given it's not just a simple slip cover difference. The limited edition includes the custom magnetic clasp box, a slip cover and a thick (40-page) booklet and both releases have a different SRP and release date.

I don't know what to say: yes or no?
This problem is similar with BFI, Arrow and Indicator releases. The re-release, without slipcover and booklet has the same EAN and is released months or a year after the limited edition, but aren't contributed to database.

If i buy an Arrow, Eureka or Indicator re-release without slipsleeve, booklet and/or reversible sleeve i do contribute an alternate profile.

Not sure if others are only making changes locally, or keep the profile as is, but alternate porfiles in cases as this can, should, and are being contributed.

That's what I've been doing for VS releases which are released without slipcovers at the same time they are released with limited edition slipcovers.

I hadn't noticed that retailers like Amazon were selling a "box"less edition of "Road House", but I would expect to see it entered as an Alternate Entry.

Within the past year or so, if VS offers a standard release, on their site, at the same time as a limited release then those standard releases are showing up 30 days later (delayed wide release) at retailers. Sometimes though, VS doesn't offer a standard release for a while and then those also show up at retailers (though not always) within 6 months to 1 year.  Sometimes those standard releases include the same discs, but in some instances they're different.
