Hi,

a friend of mine recently showed me Delicious Library on his Mac (http://www.delicious-monster.com). The program itself is nice, but the data sources are not (amazon, imdb, etc.), so not an alternative

However this program has a nice fgeature: it reads the barcodes just with the Mac's embedded webcam!
My friend just shows the DVD to the Webcam and Delicious detects the code and automatically downloads the DVD data. Really cool!

Wouldn't it be nice to have such a thing as Plugin for DVDP?

Ya, it would definitely be cool. I bought a modified Cue:Cat to scan the bar codes. It does the job, and only cost about $13.

I bought a cuecat from ebay for around $10 as well.

As for the cam, there were some programas that used your existing webcam to read the bar code and sent the output as text (just like any scanner does). I had a demo of one a few years ago, can't remember the name anymore though
With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress.

I did a quick search on Google and found this.
But I don't have a webcam so I couldn't really tell if it was what you were after...

I myself have a cuecat and I think it's great!
