Try to get online and update via windows update.  a few yrs ago there was an issue with this because of RPC or something like that.  Not sure it is the same issue, but updates are always something to try

I have tried to run updates, virus scans, and everything else.  It shuts off before they can complete.  I keep getting a blue screen that talks about something stopping that is harmful and to uninstall new software.  Since it started the day after updating to 3.0 I uninstalled it, but it rebooted while I was in the middle of shutdown.  I then reinstalled it, but it still happening.  It always cuts off while my computer is trying to shut down manually so nothing saves I don't think.

This sounds a lot more serious than just a dodgy install of DVD Profiler.
I had a similar problem a while ago and it turned out that my RAM had actually become corrupted! This was before Profiler v3 so nothing to do with that!
I eventually had to go out and buy new memory.

Does your PC come with any BIOS diagnostics? Are you able to check your memory?

Also, if it is the software and you're running XP - have you tried a system restore to a point before Profiler was installed?

you better look for closer technical assistance.
do you have a friend who has more computer knowledge? could be a hardware problem? could be a virus or spyware?

If you don't know how to check your BIOS, then you shouldn't mess with it at all.  Your problem definately sounds like hardware to me.  Bite the bullet and take it to a reputable shop for a checkup.  The longer you tinker with it, the more likely you are to damage something expensive.

yea i had that about six months ago too put mine was down to a rather nasty virus that was sent me and norton, Kaspersky, mcafee never picked it up it wrecked my Hard drive nad i eventually lost all my data - I lost over 3 months work which as a researcher and P/t seller of Memorabilia was diasterous I now back up every week and well to too worried about viruses anymore in respect of loss of data but I'd advise making a few full scans and going to the symantec seurity website and carring our a virus and secuity check for free just in case heres the link

EDIT : - It also blew my motherboard and powersupply in the end as well so get it checked before it gets worse
