List the Studios in the following priority.

    * Theatrical Release Studio(s)
    * Production Company(s)
    * DVD Distribution studio(s) if there is room available.

Do not abbreviate Studio names. e.g, use Universal Pictures not just Universal; The Criterion Collection rather than Criterion or Criterion Collection; Walt Disney Pictures not just Disney or Disney DVD. Exception: If the studio name is too long to fit, use standard abbreviation rules.

There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum.

This is the current rules on Studios.

The Host is a Korean film produced and released in 2006.
The film was funded and distributed by Showbox in Korea.
The film was produced by Chungeorahm Film and co-produced by Showbox
The film had limited US release by Magnolia Pictures
The US HD DVD, Blu-ray disc, and DVD were released by Magnolia Home Entertainment

The film starts with Showbox logo followed by Chungeorahm logo.  Magnolia logo is seen on DVD startup, but not on the film.

Which is the preferred studio lineup for the profile for US HD DVD, Blu-ray, and DVD?

My initial vote had been for Showbox/Chungeorahm/Magnolia Home Entertainment but after looking at it again I went with Other.

If we should list Theatrical release studio(s) first then I would put it in as:

Showbox/Magnolia Pictures/Chungeorahm

Showbox going first since the movie was released in South Korea a year before it was ever released in the U.S.  If there was more room then the 4th would have been the DVD Distro but we only get the 3 so unfortunately they get left out.

-edit-
I see there's 2 votes to put Magnolia Pictures first which kind of baffles me why people would put a U.S. distributor first for a Korean made movie that was released in Korea a year before it was released in the U.S.

You are referring to the US release therefore the Theatrical Release is Magnolia Pictures, DVD Distributor is Magnolia HE. Based on your notes it should be

Magnolia Pictures
Showbox
Chungeorham

For the moment Magnolia HE is left in the cold.

So, why didn't you vote?  The choice is up there.

The broader question is this.  Is this a DVD version of a US theatrical release or US DVD of a foreign release with removable subtitles?  Did anyone see the US theatrical release?  I'm sure it had burned in subtitles.  Did it have a Magnolia Pictures opening logo?  Does any of this make any difference?

To put this into perspective, let's pretend that we are talking about Lord of the Rings: Return of the King DVD release in Japan.

Theatrical release and co-production in the US: New Line Cinema
Production: Wingnut Films
Theatrical release in Japan: Herald Film
DVD release in Japan: Pony Canyon

Would anyone profile Japanese DVD of LOTR:ROTK as

Herald Film/New Line Cinema/Wingnut or
Herald Film/Wingnut/Pony Canyon?

Your broad question is valid, xradman. I presume you know the answer to that question since you posses the DVD.

AS for your hypothetical based upon the Rules a Japanese release would indeed be

Herald Film/New Line Cinema/Wingnut

Skip,

I don't know. I did not see this in the theaters. As I stated, the DVD has only the Showbox and Chungeorahm logos in the film.  So is this US DVD of a Korean release or should it still be considered US DVD of a US release since the version of this film (subtitled) did get a limited US release?

We can oinly go with what is on the DVD, xradman. I have no idea which print they might have used...obviously. Logos aside, there is no reference to Magnolia Films?

None on the film. DVD has Magnolia Home Entertainment logo at the start of the disc.  I'm sure the US theatrical print was not used for the DVD since English subtitles are not burned in, but then again, I don't know if Magnolia Pictures logo was present in the US theatrical print either.

Hey Skip,

Did you change your vote?  I could have sworn I saw one vote for Magnolia Pictures/Showbox/Chungeorahm up there before.
