I have a couple of thai DVD's which are not yet available from the profile database. I would like to add and contribute these, but i feel it is a lot of unnecessary work to completely build up a new profile from scratch.....

Is there a way in which you can use an existing profile (with another EAN code) and tweak it to the version i have? That would be very handy, as i don't want to go ahead and build up (especially) the whole actors list from scratch while it is already there in so many other profiles!

Just download the "close" version to your local database, change the UPC to the one that you own, and then make all of your changes.  Make sure that Region, Locality video format (PAL vs NTSC) are all correct before contributing.

To change the UPC, go to "DVD>Change UPC"

Hi DC

If you are planning to contribute the new profile  don't forget to go to the end of the movie and check that the cast and crew are as per the profile you have downloaded.

This may be true, but why add it to this thread?

What am I missing that shows that "Thailand" is the source of these DVDs?

Not sure why he jumped to 'bootlegs' right off the bat but, I believe he got "Thailand" as the source from the first line of the original post, "I have a couple of thai DVD's which are not yet available from the profile database."
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Glad to see I am not the only one that is blind...on ocassion.

The reason I mentioned the boots is simple recognition of the fact the Thailand is one of the capitals for piracy of DVDs and as I said I would think the odds are better than even that they might be boots.

You weren't alone, Paul. It took me at least that many readings of the original post to see the "thai" mention.  And that's using my brand, spanking new 22in widescreen monitor, too!

[Re my brand new monitor: I don't have my resolution set right yet.  Everybody's avatar looks short and squat.  For example, mine should be perfectly round, but it's more like an egg on its side than a circle!]

That's what happens when you run a 4:3 format picture on a 16:9 format monitor.  Hope you got a high end video card that lets you adjust things for that.

1600 x 900 [doh!] seems to work okay.  Thanks for the reply and info, John.

Are you sure, most 20/22" widescreens are 1680 by 1050 as is the 20" I am using right now. Any newer card should support this setting.

I am waiting for the 24"s to come down a bit in price, 1920 by 1200.

You are correct, the max resolution on my monitor is 1680 x 1050, too.  I'll try it a while at 1680 x 1050.

A Contractor I do work for is giving me a new computer with DUAL 24" Monitors.    I'll be able to add my current 20" as a 3rd as well. I need a bigger desk!

Kind of a bonus for a job well done on some hospital work I am completing for him now.

gonna be sweet..........
