Music DVD's: what locality ? |

| | Posted: | | | | Music DVDs are AFAIK released across a huge range of localities. At the moment, it seems like the master database is really a mess when it comes to Music DVDs. Sometimes I have to take the profile from locality Germany, sometimes from the UK, and so on...
Are there guidelines for this, especially when submitting new ones ? I guess I should not (re)submit them all with locality Netherlands (none have Dutch text anyway)... ?
I guess part of the problem is that only a few number of DP users also have music DVDs, since we're all probably movie lovers rather than music lovers. |

I would say, unless it was obviously an import from another locality then creating new profiles for your own locality is no problem - they have been released for sale there after all. |

| | Posted: | | | | Most UK music dvd's are exempt and therefore don't have a rating. They may mention on the back cover they are exempt. Frequently they have multiple rating logo's.
So, I'd say the locality is that of the store/etailer you purchased it from. | | |

I have a few I have ordered in the UK, they do not have the German rating sign on them, I found 1 exempt from classification, and 1 with UK 15 symbol, so those get a UK locality. | | Posted: | | | | Most of these music DVDs show multiple rating indications for different countries. For the UK this is indeed "E - Exempt from Classifications" while they also have "Freigegeben ohne Altersbeschränkung" etc... That's why I mentioned that these are releases that are identical across Europe and beyond. I have even seen profiles for locality Australia and South Africa (so I assume they have PAL too). Looking at the details and cover scans they are identical to the ones I have.
All these DVDs also don't have a region encoding.
As for Belgium as locality. Belgium is bilingual: Dutch and French speaking (we even have a small German speaking community). Although Belgium exists as a locality, I think few DP users use it. The consensus is that the Dutch speaking users use locality Netherlands, because the DVDs that are released here (Dutch speaking part) are identical to the ones released in the Netherlands. Likewise, I imagine that the French speaking Belgians typically have DVDs that are identical to French releases.
Only when the back explicitly mentions it is a DVD for the Belgian market, I would be using locality Belgium, which rarely happens. |

| | Posted: | | | | Whenever the exact same DVD (including packaging) is marketed in more than one locality, a profile can be created for any of these localities. It is absolutely normal that more than one profile exists for the same DVD. The user may choose his favourite locality himself. He should make sure though that the release date, SRP, and rating do match the data for his chosen locality. |

| | Posted: | | | | Ok, I guess I'll just go look for the locality where the profile seems best maintained. This is exactly the same reason why I always use Netherlands as locality rather than Belgium (well there's a second reason for that: Belgium is bilingual and DVD Profiler can't cope with that).
