Hi again. I have updated the Norwegian edition of 24. I added from "SEASON THREE to "SEASON THREE DVD SAMLING" I got one no vote so far, because on the cover it says "SEASON THREE, DVD SAMLING" with the comma. Should commas be included in the editionfield? I know the rules says so, but I think it looks nicer and cleaner without the comma. Norwegian distributors have their own way to mess up covers. Mixing english and norwegian in the title is embarrising. The title should be "SESONG TRE DVD SAMLING" in my opinion..

To give yo an example of how "stupid" norwegian titles are, I have one good example. The Back to the future trilogy. Our norwegian cover says: Triologi Boks. The right spelling is Trilogi Boks. In english the wrong spelling would be something like Triliogy

As a general rule...if it's on the box it's what should be in the profile.

If you don't like it the best thing to do is submit your changes WITH the comma, and then remove it afterwards. Then lock your local profile to make sure your preference stays in place.

Hope that helps.

Thing is, we're not trying to get things to look nice, we're trying to get things to look exactly how they are on the DVD case.  That even means propergating spelling mistakes in the overview for example.

Make it match the DVD, submit, then update your local copy to match your preference and then lock it.

Is it even correct grammar to have a comma there? I cant get my head around it.

Norwegians are crazy and cant decide wether or not to translate the titles. therefore we have movies like Along came polly. wich everyone knows as this title but the stupid distributor has translated it and therefore we have it in the db here as og så kom polly. And that means litterally And then polly came. that actually sounds bad bad now that I have written it down. to emphasise this even more we have a a road diner called " By the way".

its late I better go to sleep befor i get another poem outta me. Or rant even more nite all

Comma or not, it's actually incorrect to even be putting anything in the "Edition" field.

TV Series titles, including the Season indicator, belong in the Title field.

So technically, the Title should be "24: Season Three, DVD Samling" and the Edition field is empty.  Though I agree it seems pretty ridiculous and probably should just be "24: Season Three" but the rules are the rules.  They go in the online database like that and then you just fix it in your local database the way YOU think it should be.  That's basically the design of the entire system.

!

I'm heartened to read that other countries, using other languages, have problems in public displays of misspellings and poor grammar just like in the USA.

I supply as an example:

If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

This is DVD Profiler, so it seems pretty superfluous indeed to put DVD Samling in the title (or anywhere else for that matter). If it were a CD Samling or a VHS Samling, we would just ignore it. Does the way this is printed on the cover give any hint that DVD Samling can be ignored as part of the title? Different font or color for example?

It's the same font and color as "SEASON THREE", and they both are at the far bottom of the cover.
It reads: "SEASON THREE, DVD SAMLING".

At the very center of the cover you can see a huge "24" and a smaller "TWENTY FOUR" over it.

At the top of the cover, the name of the star: "KIEFER SUTHERLAND".

According to some on-line translator, "samling" means "accumulation, array, assembling, assembly, bunch, bundle".

So I guess you're right.
