| Posted: | | | | I have a great idea for a plugin and something that i would find extremely useful, however i do not have the knowledge or skill required in creating such a plugin, so I am throwing it out here as a request so that someone in the development community may (hopefully) create it.
I would like a plugin that basically works as a method to check physical inventory, i used to every six month double check my entire collection, and ensure that no discs have gone missing... however due to the size of my collection and work schedule, i have not done this in almost 2 years...
my idea can be in its most basic form, something that will flag titles as you enter their upc, while creating an exception list... it can however obviously be much more interaction and smart, but even something basic would do... if you are a plugin developer and would like to develop this, you would be amazing, if you want to ask me questions or discuss it in detail, post here or PM me
thank you! | | | -JoN |

thank you! Have you seen tlevel's UPC Filter Plugin? As I understand it, you can flag profiles whose UPCs you type or barcode scan in. Then all you have to do is reverse flags and you have your exceptopn list. You can get his plugin here. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. | Posted: | | | | ah hah... i had not seen this... this is pretty much what i am looking for... however what tlevel just stated was what i meant by exception list... in case i scan something that is not in the database at all... your UPC Filter plugin should be listed in the available plugins pinned thread... | | | -JoN |

| Posted: | | | | tlevel's plugin works great! I used it to do a full check of my collection a few months back (~2000 titles at the time). Set it to flag each found UPC/EAN. Any that don't have a match in your collection you put to the side to add later. At the end sort by 'flagged', any that are not flagged are missing or have the wrong UPC/EAN. Match up the un-found DVDs to the unflagged profiles and you are good to go!

| Posted: | | | | The reason for including an exception list was because of a request from another user who uses a scanner that can send a whole batch of UPC's. Something like 500 or so. So he couldn't tell if a UPC was not in his database because it would go by really quick.
I was going to put the plugin in the pinned thread, but I think it might need a new name. It doesn't really filter, which was my original premise, seems like more people are using it to take a inventory. | | | The Other DVD Forum Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? |
