Maybe a song writer credit, but I would probably leave them out.

Not sure - I've seen this credit used sometimes where most of the soundtrack is songs or non-original music, and a composer writes "incidental music" to fill the gaps.
So depending on the situation, a composer credit may be valid.

Thats what i thought north, there are two music credits that appear on screen one is for the theme tune which is credited as "Music and Lyrics By" which i put as Song Writer the other is the "Incidental Music By" credit which i assume means that any other music you hear during the programme was written by that person (can't think of any other reason for the credit to be there) so thought a Composer credit might be appropriate.

No credit.

At best, you are guessing at what this person's actual role was.

Composer is reserved for the person who wrote the score.

I wouldn't contribute it. Incidental: not of prime or central importance.

No such job description in DVDP. It's like the infamous "theme by"...

I agree with Hal.  This person did not write the score so should not get a composer credit.  He/she did write songs...which is why I said, "maybe songwriter".

Except you'll find that whoever wrote the music for a particular tv episode or film is sometimes given an "incidental music by" credit. Which is why I said it depends on the situation.
I mean, after all, what is a score but incidental music?
