Multiple UPCs for the same release |

| | Posted: | | | | Maybe this has been covered before, and the search feature just didn't find anything, but I've noticed that a couple of titles in my collection have different UPCs that the one that appears to be the "preferred" entry. I've found two so far, both 20th Century Fox titles released in 2001 and 2002.
Big Trouble in Little China:
My UPC: 024543014409
Kiss of the Dragon:
My UPC: 024543030478
What's interesting is that if I look in the profiler database, each title has at least three UPCs where the 10th and 11th digits are sequentially increased. Any thoughts as to what the heck is going on?
I was living in Nebraska when these DVDs were released. Could there have been different UPCs released in different markets? |

The funny thing is, this came to my attention because I'm trying to find a way to calculate the amount of disc space I would need if I were to rip my entire collection to hard disk without compression or removing features. |

That's another thing I'll need to convince my wife to let me buy.
It's too bad there's not a better way to tie the profile data better for these multiple UPC releases, since they only thing different between them is a small section of the back cover (specifically the UPC and barcode). |
