I know of no resource, free or paid, that tells you what came inside the keep case for any given edition of a DVD.  This is important because I'm a member of disc swapping services that only allow listing for trades where "all artwork" is complete / included.

It is also a problem because many discs today come with NOTHING inside but the disc and the security tag.

In DVDProfiler you have the extras section, where the bonus material like postcards, posters, booklets etc. can be noted if needed.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I don't know where to look for this tab, unless it is called something other than "extras".  Help search for "extras" produced almost nothing.

I'm guessing it would be called something else?  Is the info actually entered / uploaded / shared between users?

The tab is called "Features", but I don't know how reliable of a source it is. Sure, for super special stuff (like a miniature comic book or something) it's often there, but for simple chapter listings I don't think it's generally included with submissions.

I could be dead wrong, but a quick-and-dirty spot check of a few titles in my own database didn't yield any positive results.

I checked that "features" tab too and found the same.

So what would it take to get another icon designed / placed in that section, representing at least "printed matter inside the case"?  One day it would be nice to be able to identify everything in the case, including stuff like marketing materials and special trial offers, etc.

Not sure if that's really necessary. There's the "Other" field where you can type in descriptions of what is included. Many profiles with special kinds of inserts have that section filled out. I think in general people don't feel that chapter listings or other minor inserts are special enough to bother adding the info the the "Other" field, and I don't know that another checkmark or icon design would help matters.

In terms of what it would take... technically just a post in the Feature Requests forum, but Ken will naturally have to agree with the request. I'm assuming it would help if others replied to your feature request thread and voiced their opinion in the positive.

The practice of inserts stopped a few years back,, ( due to cost cutbacks) but your notice of 'all artwork included'  would obviously refer to  the outside cover scans.., and the 'option of the Other tab'  Invelos uses for this practice of the included Inserts would be:  the insert would have to be 4 pages or more and not two.. ( small booklet or souvenir program )

I've often wondered why the studios don't have an insert available on line with the chapter stops and its titles available for download., If the studios are so worried about cost cutting..

It's about cost CUTBACKS. Surely you aren't suggesting that the Studios would make insert data available for FREE.<gasp>

It's kinda funny that they stop putting inserts in their dvd releases, but instead spend more on cardboard slip covers with lenticular or glossy finishes. One would think that the chapter list would be cheaper to make, but as Skip would say, "I hate Hollywood."

Mike:

Speaking very personally, I find the inserts to be uuterly useless, MOT of the Booklets as well. However as regards the slips, of any kind, one must understand the game. The slips are released as limited item, in every instance, once the supply of slips is exhausted the title is "re-released" with a lower SRP.  I saw an graphic example from a distributor at late last year, I think it was Rob Zombie's Halloween, but it was released both with and without slip case, identical in every other respect but the slip was $10 more. Want to guess which oine i didn't buy? In short they make money from the slips, they don't make any money from the inserts.
