Anybody else have this problem... I find that when I'm thinking about purchasing a standard dvd that I will wind up waiting for the Blu-Ray version instead. So now I have this huge Want List, just waiting for them to magically waiting for them to transform into Blu-ray.

Thanks

Certainly not for me, since I don't care at all about this format. I'm perfectly happy with what I have right now and the improvment isn't good enough for jumping in a new format. If someone buy only recent movies I suppose that the format is ok, but for someone like me who buy mostly obsure and "old" movies an image too clean isn't a buying argument. Why? Those movies are suppose to have scratches and lines without them I'm not able to feel the movie (they sound lifeless without their defects for me).

That would depend on the movie... Sometimes I wonder why the studios bother with new releases on DVD only, as in the case of the recent Hitchcock releases from Universal (Vertigo, Psycho etc.) It makes no sense to me as anyone who is interested is already likely to own them on DVD.

What kills me is how the studios will put junk like this, Can't Hardly Wait,The Love Guru, Eraser, movies that nobody saw the first time, on blu-ray. When theres tons of classics action and sci-fi that needs to be on blu-ray. To me 3 of the biggest should be Alien, Aliens and Abyss.

I have that problem, as well as the problem that while I do have blu-ray, and there are plenty of titles out there I want... I am a bargain hunter... so... the wishlist is growing, simply because its harder to find a deal on specific blu-rays then regular dvds.

I try to purchase blu-ray as much as possible for the recent releases. I also try to replace non-anamorphic DVD's with blu-ray if they become available. But I'm also a bargain hunter. And the average price for new releases is still 29.99€ here. Lucky for me, a lot of UK releases also contain dutch subtitles, and prices tend to drop faster in the UK.

The format needs diversity. I like action and sci-fi too, but if that would be dominating, I would not care to buy into Blu-ray unless I got it cheap. I love having Alvin and the Chipmunks on Blu-ray, and I also own a lot of that "junk", like some of the latest comedies that flopped and got bad reviews. And I like it.
