[...] reviews are always opinion. Why else would the PS3 version of Prince of Persia be ranked higher thasn the 360 version.[...]

Actually, it's usually because the games are scored in comparison to other games on the same console. So, the Xbox having more higher rated games will automatically drive down scores for other games.

I love my PS3.  I bought it to be a Blu-ray player.  And a year later, it continues to be one of, if not the best, Blu-ray player available.  It's also a great DVD player.  In addition, I've had many, many hours of fun playing games on it.  I'm not a gamer (any more), but I've had a blast with it.  It's also a nice media server, which was unexpected.

I can't say if it's better or worse than an X-Box.  I honestly don't care.  And I really don't understand why other people feel the need to make make me care.  It's the right piece of hardware for me and many other people.  And that's all I need to know.

And to stay on topic, still hating Home.

While I certainly wouldn't call the PS3 a failure as a gaming console, it's a fact that it doesn't even come close to the 360 in terms of total number of quality games.

As of this writing the 360 has a total of 16 games with an average review rating of 90 or higher. The PS3 has a total of 8. If you count platform exclusive titles the 360's total is at 6 and the PS3's total is at 2.

If you expand the review range to include games with an average rating of 80 or higher, the numbers are 120 for the 360, and 69 for the PS3.

Based on their release rate (meaning how fast either console have released games rated 80+ or 90+) the PS3 will never catch up to the 360, as the 360 has a slightly faster release rate of quality games than the PS3.

If you doubt any of the above data, feel free to head over to gamerankings.com and look over the stats yourself.

PS3 most quality games and least shovelware in 2008.

Here is the exclusives line up for 2009 as it currently stands for PS3 vs. X360.

Not included in that list is MLB '09: The Show (The Show is the premier baseball game for all consoles) which is a PS3 exclusive.

In Europe the PS3 already outsold the XBox 360.

Fraid not

I see in all your negative hype hyperbole rage you didn't read carefully.

across five key European territories - the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Notice their careful choice of wording that people looking to push this wouldn't pick up on.  Then, the x360 fans grab that and interpret it to mean X360 has the lead throughout the whole PAL region.

In the PAL region the PS3 supposedly still has a 300,000 unit lead at TWICE the cost of entry (during a worldwide recession no less) on the X360.  That's saying a lot.  It seems the only area MS has the install based lead is where all the negative hype press is coming from...North America.

BTW, 3D gaming and movie watching might be coming to the PS3 in 2009.

Blitz Games will assist in this new technology by offering their Blitz Tech Engine for use, and according to the site, the console support "will only need a bios upgrade to work." It's interesting to note that the PS3 may be the only machine capable of such an upgrade...

It's, also, interesting that the big 3rd party publishers are making more money or around the same as X360 on the PS3 worldwide.

With all of this, it's hard to say the PS3 isn't doing ok just because of the last couple of months (unless you're wearing blinders).

X360 Jasper models (65nm Xenos and Xenon with 80nm eDRAM) have just been spotted in the wild a couple of weeks ago.  Meanwhile, the PS3 should be on 45nm Cell and RSX in the spring.  MS is STILL looking for a 45nm foundry to start planning the "Valhalla" die manufacturing process.  That means that Sony can stay more price competitive from later in 2009 onward.  Remember, the PS3 still, supposedly, has another 7 to 8 years in it's lifecycle.  The PS2 went from 120 million to 150 million in the last two years it's been on the market.  I'm just saying...

Plus, there are tons of OTHER scheduled services that's suppose to be coming to the PS3 in 2009 (music downloads, in-game video chat, etc).  That walled off SPE for the OS, in the PS3, will be put to good use in '09.  A lot of different services can be handled by that SPE at the helm.  The X360 only has access to 3% of Core 1 and Core 2 for the OS.  That can't be increased either (for obvious reasons).

As far as Home goes, it's still in Beta status.  Plus, it will CONSTANTLY evolve.  Right now, we can't even stream content to our respective homes and we can't launch into games.  However, the social aspect of it is fleshing itself out do to amount of people in there.

And, a (future) Merry Christmas everyone!
