| Posted: | | | | I am getting the above error message when trying to restore a backup from network drive to new laptop and newly loaded dvdprofiler . The backup is large (5.5gb) so could be the problem??
Has anyone experienced this before?

| Posted: | | | | How much memory does the laptop have and how big is your backup file?
Try restoring a few profiles and see if that works. If so, restore larger and larger batches until it's all in. |

| Posted: | | | | 3.5g ram and 250g h/d, so plenty of room the backup is 5.5g
How can I restore just a few profiles, I can't remember seeing an option to break down the backup?

| Posted: | | | | You can restore "specific profiles" after selecting the backup file.
How big is your swap file? It might be possible that DVDP tries to load the whole 5.5g file into memory or expands it there. That means you'd need 5.5g +x (the OS needs memory, too) of RAM memory. 3.5g of your physical RAM and at least 2 gigs of swap file. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Do you still have the old installation with the database? Try backing up your collection minus covers and then restore that. If it works, manually copy the covers via the network. |

God help me, if that's true Karsten, I am approaching 12..5GB I am trying a restore to a blank database, so far no such issue. We will see. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | So far so good on my test restore. BTW I am running 4GB plus a 350 HDD, so it is pretty close to richie's.

| Posted: | | | | Try running the Task Manager by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and selecting it. Watch the Page File (PF Usage) graph while you restore the DB. If it's already near the top, you have something that is using up all your available memory or you have your swap file disabled (or both). |

| Posted: | | | | Still so far so good, Doc, on the test. PF Usage is running about 4.24GB, CPU usage running about 50% give or take, with some pretty healthy spikes. But it is chuggin along, no sign of richie's error.

| Posted: | | | | May have to back up minus the covers if it's an issue with the file size. |
