I'm sure this has been covered before but I haven't been able to find anything.

I find it handy to use the hotkeys to jump to different places in my collection such as pushing "M" jumps to the first DVD that starts with M.  The "T" key however jumps to the first DVD with the word "The" at the beginning of the title, so it actually takes me back to the top of the collection.

Anyone else noticed this behavior and is there a fix for it.

You are right, this is rather erratic, which is why I don't use the feature.

Apparently, the jump does not use the Sort title. What makes this even more confusing is that parent/child groupings are ignored, and for me "M" jumps to a child profile in the "A"s. This may be logical from a programming point of view, but is not helpful at all. And yes, "T" stands for Top of the collection, which is the only way to make this useful.

I assume it's a feature of the list control and not something Ken explicitly programmed. Thus it takes the texts at face value. And when you press T it jumps to the first title starting with a T.

"s" takes me to "b" because "Babylon 5" is "Spacecenter Babylon 5" in german. (don't ask why an english title is changed to another english title for the german market    )

Solution: type more than one character! If I type "sil" I correctly wind up at "The Silence of the Lambs"

I didn't realize you could type more than one letter, that helps considerably when looking for a specific movie.

In my case all other letters seem to work correctly so for "T" I can jump to "U" and scroll backwards.

Thanks

One Question though: Why don't you use the filters for this? They know title and original title and you even can search for substrings.

I don't use filters because of my unusual setup.  I backup my DVDs to hard drive and then store the originals.  I edited someone's layout so that the dvd collection is still on my computer where it should be but a html screen and images show on my projector.  I can then scroll through my collection with a remote control or a Gyration Air mouse remote using the program Event Ghost, when I find a movie I want to see I click the title which is a link to a playlist and VLC media player plays the DVD full screen on the projector.  I can then use the same remote to navigate the movie.

To help with scrolling through so many movies I made a little menu with Event Ghost which just has letters on it.  Clicking on a letter takes me to that section just like pressing a keyboard key, but I can set in my recliner and navigate instead of at the computer.  This is what brought up the issue in the first place.

Short version is, to use filters I would have to set at my computer instead of my recliner.
