I have a collection of almost 1.000 dvd's and blu rays. Until now I sorted them by title and placed them according to the assigned numbers in Profiler on the book shelf. Now I decided to sort the whole collection in a different way. By type of movie.

To sort by type is easy and it works wonderful. All my westerns grouped together, all sf-movies, all television-comedies and so on. But they keep their old numbers and I cannot figure out how to renumber them so I can place them according to the new order on the shelf. As far as I discovered renumbering is only possible by title, date of purchase and publishing date.

Is there a workaround so I can renumber the new order of my collection and place it according on the shelf?

You can always assign manual numbers, by selecting the profile and either pressing CTRL-P or double-clicking and switching to "Personal Information".

Here are a couple of options:

(1) Use collection number. There are some menu items that allow you to reassign collection numbers. Once reassigned, you can sort on that.

(2) Use the location fiield. That can also be sorted, although I'm not sure if the numeric ordering will be strict, since it is basically a text field.

In either case, the plugin BulkEdit may also be helpful in doing some of the bulk reordering. For example, you can flag a set of profiles in a group and reorder in batches.

DJ Doena and mediadogg
Thnx for the replies. It helped to figure out how re-order my collection.
@mediadogg, I downloaded your plugin, but did not yet install it. Might fix things even better for me. Thnx a lot. Have time to try it out on Thursday.
Discovered several interesting other plugins on your website. Loaddvd seems to be what I was looking for since a long time. Might be in for a donation. :-)
