| Posted: | | | | There are gaps in the HBO film catalog. For example: the movie "A Bright Shining Light" (made in 1998) is NOT listed. However there are films listed in that catalog before and after that date. This is but one example; there are other "gaps". Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks. |

The exact same comment is true for every studio in Hollywood. HBO is no different, why that particular title...who knows.

Woola: Interesting comment. First, i didn't realize the other studios cataloged their work like HBO (I'm a beginner!). Second: these ommissions are prevalent!!!! Holy Celluloid. I would think that all the broughaha about copyright laws, micromanaging movies, and studio image that the same studio execs could hire a 9 to 5er to update their studio's website. At least if I were studio exec for a day I would decree, "That from this day hence, my studio website catalog will maintain greater accuracy than an atomic clock, by gosh."
I think they should take greater pride in their showcase. | | | Last edited: by danomite33 |

I think they should take greater pride in their showcase. Are you complaining that they a) have released films for home viewing but don't have them listed on the web site? b) have neither released them nor have them listed on the web site? I'll guess "a" because the film to which i believe you are referring "A Bright Shining Lie" is available on DVD (Amazon, $5.98). Given the price and the fact it was released 11 years ago it is no surprise it's not in the current catalog. It's likely out of print. It likely isn't in the website catalog because a) the web site was likely much more rudimentary 11 years ago and b) by the time they filled in the details on the site this movie had fallen into the "what have you done for me lately?" category and it wasn't worth a 9-to-5ers time to add it back. Their web site is a sales tool for them, only incidentally may it serve as a library for us. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |
