Hello,
I've just a little question...
In the program there is a list of "Genre" like Action, Thriller, etc...
I can add new categories but my question is : is it possible to define some predefined categories ?

That's all...thanks in advance...

Delete the predefined Genres?  No.  You're stuck with them.  Sorry.

Yes, you can do that easily, using a translation file. Translation files are made to translate dvdprofiler items from english to another language, but you can use them to change items. If family genre doesn't please you, you can translate it to whatever you want, but then you have to keep local profiles that use that genre. You can also customize other fields. For example, I "translated" rating details to box-office data in my country.

tools>options>system>language>edit

"For users who intend to create a new translation file or correct/complete an existing one:

To ensure you have the latest translatable strings, download and save the master source file, then use the Load Keys option to load the translatable strings.

In the translation editor, right-click on the translatable string list and select Load Keys From....  Browse to the master source file and select OK."

I hadn't thought of doing that.  I suppose one could, but I don't think it would be a good idea.

To use your example, say I didn't like "Family" as a genre, preferring "Martians" (no offense, Marvin)--so I use a translation file to change it.  Then any time I looked at a profile from the online that had genre "Family" I would think it had Martians in it.

Much simpler to use custom genres and ignore the ones I don't want to use.

Why look at profiles from the online ??? I have much better data in my local, where everything is locked from the beginning.

But you have to admit that not everyone is you.

Hello and happy new year...

Sorry...I forgot this forum and the message I post...

I tried with the translation to modify some Genre and it works.
For those I don't want, I simply put a "-" and it is OK.
But something strange...neither in English or in French, I found the genres "Crime" and "Disaster"...nowhere in the file.

Have you got an idea ?

Thanks for your help...

You have to download the latest Master Translation source from Downloads - Translatation.
