| Posted: | | | | How can I get the database schema for the profiler database? I would like to make some batch-type changes and none of the plugins I have tried work too well.
Here's the original problem: I have about 700 movies, and would like to edit the 'disc location' for several subsets of the collection. What would be ideal would be selecting multiple titles (not allowed) and doing a common field edit like iTunes (bulk-edit plugin does not work).
Another solution would be a more complete scripting language, or the ability to import single records from an XML file.
If you could import single records from XML, you could edit the XML, delete the record, and re-import with the new data. Time-consuming but it would work. |

| Posted: | | | | There's no direct access to the database, it's password-protected. But there's a plugin called BulkEdit which might help you. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Did you report the problem in the BulkEdit thread? Perhaps I missed it, or if I already deemed it something I can't handle, my apologies. The original purpose of BulkEdit was for editing Location and Slot, so if you can't do that - it would get my attention. My recommended scenario has always been: (1) Use Database Query to search for, select and flag the subset you want to work on, (2) Load Flagged into BulkEdit, (3) Make your changes, (4) Save Validated Changes. Some folks have been successful with this. I'm sorry that it hasn't worked for you. You are welcome to go ahead and write a bunch of scripts if you prefer to do it yourself, but I would also apprecaite it if you could describe the problem in the BulkEdit thread (if you haven't already - as I said, maybe I missed it.) (Edit: thanks for the reassurance FredLooks - hoping that the 3.6 upgrade improves speed). | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. I just recently updated my 3000+ profiles, changing the location and slot fields in clumps of about 60 profiles per go, using BulkEdit. It takes a while to write out the changed data (a feature of the API it is using, I think) but it worked just fine for me. | | | -fred |

Just for the record , you can do this as well as CSV import with BulkEdit. If you need something before the feature is added to DVD Profiler, you could give the plugin a try. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here.
