| Posted: | | | | someone please correct me if this feature already exists, but I can not find it...
the problem: I have 18 credits for James MacDonald all with no birth year, I have just discovered that there are in fact 2 James MacDonald's and I now need to add birth years.
right now the program makes me add a birth year for the existing actor, then manually remove him from the cast list of titles he does not belong in and manually replace with the new actor with birth year.
i would like some type of right click function... "change to James MacDonald 19xx" to quicken the process
or better yet a way to automate it if at all possible. | | | -JoN | | | Last edited: by ruineddaydreams |

| Posted: | | | | It's a little bit more efficient if you do it the other way around. First add a new actor with the same name, and with a BY, and then go thorugh the necessary profiles using the Replace function. But in either case, you will have to do one group manually (pick the smallest one). | | | Hans |

Yup, that's how I'd do it. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Why limit it to birth years? It would be great if there was a replace function to be able to replace an actor/crew name with someone else in your database. It would save a ton of mouse clicks/keyboard strokes, especially for those with super long credit listing. | | | My Home Theater |

But in normal circustances, you will still need to select which ones to change and which ones to keep, and I don't see how that could be other than a manual process. But even there, the Name Variants plugin comes in handy, for those who got a copy before the author left. | | | Hans |

It can save strokes because then you wouldn't have to click the corrected names up to the original location in the credits. | | | My Home Theater |

| Posted: | | | | To be perfectly honest, xradman, I won't be broken up if it doesn't. I see too many people creating links using ONLY the Name Variant Tool and that proves nothing. It only tells us that two names are similar, it does not tell us that two names are the same person. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
