I have been using DVDprofiler to manage my collection since 2002. Now that I have a media player that can display cover art and such (like YAMJ, XBMC), I would like to export my cover art and display it using my media player.

I have put much effort into keeping DVDprofiler accurate and would like to use this information as my basis for my descriptions and cover art (instead of searching IMDB and others). Has anyone seen or created a DVDProfiler Export to place a well defined .NFO file and/or image creation tools (like: Thumbgen and TViXie2PlayOnHD).

I use a Patriot Box Office (aka: ACRYAN, WDLIVE, Medebo, and others) as my media player, and it supports the folder/file format:

* MOVIES
  * Movie1 Title
        * Movie1 Title.iso
        * Movie1 Title.nfo
        * 0001.jpg
        * Movie1 Title_cover.jpg
        * Movie1 Title.jpg
        * folder.jpg
  * Movie2 Title
        * Movie2 Title.iso
        * Movie1 Title.nfo
        * 0001.jpg
        * Movie2 Title_cover.jpg
        * Movie2 Title.jpg
        * folder.jpg

It helps to have the .NFO file in the folder so if needed, it can be updated, or the folders can be rescanned and images updated with new information based upon the .NFO file.

If you know of a pluggin or application that can provide this functionality, please post.
Google is my friend, but it seems to be striking out on this one.

there is a Plugin called TviX Plugin, maybe you give that a spin?
Also, triggered by you post I did a bit of snooping earound and came across Tvixie which can use the XML-Export as a "information provider" I just don't know how.
First step seems to be to rename the export to DVDProfilerExport.xml and move it into the directory where Tvixie resides. After that I could choose "DVD Profiler" as said "provider" but I don't see how to go on. The program is looking vor a folder structure which I don't have
(to clarify things: I don't have rips, I tried to misuse the whole thing for a kind of catalog which I put on my NMT-Device just for browsing)

My plugin DVDProfileLoop plus a simple script (.wsf or .bat) could create this format in minutes.

If you do a Forum search for "XBMC" , you will get hits in half dozen or so threads on this topic. Seems to always end with a request for more details that never get answered.
Thanks for your support.

I installed this too. Did as the forum suggested, export my DVDP XML to the TViXiE folder... No Joy.
The reponse by othes said it did not work either. The developer has not answered any questions by users on how to get it to work. I assume it will not get fixed anytime soon.

Thanks for looking out for me.

Same problem I am running into. Alot of questions, dead links and no answers. As powerful as DVDP is, and as much time we have invested in keeping our libraries upto date and accurate, it would seem this would be the best approach at populating our "Media Jukebox" with valid data.

All of the Media players have similar traits. Display the contents of a JPG based upon a given filename: folder.jpg, Movie_name_Cover.jpg, 0001.jpg TVIX.jpg, about.jpg, Movie_name_fanart.jpg, etc.

What these jpgs are named depends upon the media player in use, and how the jpgs are generated depends upon what pre-processor tools are used: (TViXiE, TViXie2PlayOnHD, Thumbgen, YANFOE, Movie Flow, Media Companion, XBMC, DVDP2XBMC). Sometimes, a post-processor is required to create a link between the jukebox application and the jpg images. This will build the xml code to provide the actual names /locations of the movie files (.mkv, .iso, .vob...).

All of the tools need to get the movie details from someplace. They can parse out the folder/filename and use a best-guess effort to search a given list of Internet database providers. They sometimes GUESS correctly, sometimes they don't, so the user must correct the potential results prior to moving on and getting correct movie information (babysit the process). he They all expect to obtain movie specifics from someplace, such as IMDB, Amazon, TMDb... If we already have the DVDProfiler information on each movie we own, we shouldn't need to guess at the title of the movie, which version, year and such needing jpg images to complete the jukebox.

The link between our DVD's (the image files, .iso, .mkv) and the jukebox is the .NFO file. If we can generate a well populated .NFO file with our DVDProfiler content, then many of the pre-post processors can use this file to generate the required jpg images.

Now that most of these media players can be purchased for less than $80 (without disk drive), it would seem that the demand for this tool would be beneficial.

There are a bunch of us here that could create that format in a matter of hours, using DVDP data from XML or from a plugin, but (third request), exactly what contents do you want to generate? Saying ".NFO" is about as useful as "XML". If you can research and decide exactly what data fields you want from DVD Profiler and then tell us, you will be less than a week away from a solution.

So:
(1) Decide what box you want to focus on (we will not solve the whole world's problems in the beginning)
(2) Find a screen template that you like, for a movie that you like
(3) Grab the .NFO file for that entry
(4) Post it.

Next steps:
(1) Once we have confidence that we know what we are doing, make scripts for other boxes
(2) Write a plugin
  - user selects the fields he wants
  - user selects the type of box, or specifies a custom format
  - user specifies directory structure
  - flag profiles
  - write the whole smash to secified target folder

This could be a collaboration if different people want to research and perfect scripts for various boxes. Then we need ideas for how the plugin screens and menus would look. And then at least one of us would need to actually write the plugin.
Thanks for your support.

(1) Okay, I'd like to focus on the XBMC box
(2) not sure what you mean by screen template - can you elaborate?
(3) you need an example .NFO file? does this help -> Linky

In this folder is an .ISO for the DVD (or MKV if it's HD), this .nfo file, a .TBN file of format undetermined (I'll research), a -fanart.jpg file, a -trailer.flv file, a cover file named curImage.flv, and a fanart.jpg which is background art.

In my case directory structures are SMB shares that I access like so: \\server\sharefolder and beneath that is tons of folders with the name of the movie. Not sure how getting the .NFO exports into the correct folders would work as that might require some effort but for good art and accurate info - which I have for ALL of my movies using DVDProfiler - I would be willing to do a great deal of manual work.

I am primarily interested in background art aka fan art if possible (other sources is fine or use what is there now), cover art, info on the plot, perhaps rating of movie (R, PG, etc.), and perhaps the actors. Plot and art are primary for me. My current system also links to trailer.FLV files <shrug>

I use Ember right now, DVDProfiler blows this away IMO but in my case it's simply a database of my collection with NO link to the actual storage so I'm not sure how to connect those dots best.

This might be helpful to you as well - .nfo formatting

I'm sure that's not enough info however I have a decent collection and I have .nfo files for most of it in a decent format I think so I would be happy to help provide information if someone decides to take this on...

P.S. I currently use Ember. the project was abandoned and then picked up by the community when the code was released. It's one of those programs that scrapes tons of sites.
