| Posted: | | | | Hello all
I can't seem to do a backup anymore.
I'm running under Windows 7 64bit.
At the end of the backup I get the following error message: "Stream read error"
I've done a db repair. I've tried doing a backup under a different name (rather than an overwrite). Nothing works.
I've noticed since going over to Windows 7 that Profiler is very glitchy. I often get errors when adding/changing studios. Text overlaps with neighbouring text.
Anyone got any suggestions for the backup issue? |

| Posted: | | | | 1) Are you sure the location where you backup to is not full?
2) What kind of file system is on the backup location? AFAIK the FAT-32 (used on all kinds of USB devices) does not support files bigger than 4 GB. (2 to the power of 32 bytes) Has your previous backup file reached that kind of size?
3) You also can backup by simply copying the database files to a backup location. It's actually a lot faster than to create a backup file with DVDP functions.
4) Have you tried to exclude certain things in the backup, like cover scans or cast/crew database to find out if any of that causes the trouble?
5) Have you any "weird" files in your Images or Thumbnails folder. Files that don't belong there? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | 1. Destination definitely not full (apprx 160gig free).
2. Backup is 2.60 gig.
3. Always prefer to use the built in (but will try this if all else fails).
4. I left off the covers and the backup went through. I've also had a look through my images folder and can't see anything unusual. |

| Posted: | | | | Ok...I tried to copy my images folder to my backup location; and it came up with an error on one of the images.
It turned out Without a Trace Season 6, back cover was corrupted somehow. Now fixed, and my backup went forward without a hitch.
Thank you so much DJ for all your help! |

Was achieved by a copy and paste method or by way of the backup function? Not meant to be a dumb question, but I have almost given up trying to sort this issue out that started a year ago. It turned out Without a Trace Season 6, back cover was corrupted somehow. How did an individual image file appear to be corrupted? i.e. how was it identified? Now fixed, and my backup went forward without a hitch. I am glad to hear of your success... I am still cursing and swearing
Thank you so much DJ for all your help! I have tried DJ's approach, but came up with the "stream read error" when I did a backup of the profile/images and all other excluded.... I can't progress from this point. | | | Veni, Vidi, Visa, Vista, Voodoo, Vino I came, I saw, I bought, I installed Vista, I'm now haunted, I need wine
