| Posted: | | | | Hi all
Is there a way that you can link different UPCs to a profile?
For example if I look at ER: The Complete Eight Season in the DVD profiler database, the UPC is 9-325336-034637, however the copy I have is 9-325336-032374. The cover art and everything is the same (except obviously the bar code at the bottom of the back cover).
Is there some way to add this UPC to that profile so that in future if someone is adding by UPC they dont have to search by title to find it? |

| Posted: | | | | This one surprised me for the take on the question. Linking upcs. The upc is our data key, you don't link the key, it identifies the item. If the upc is not in the db it needs to be. The normal question is why. That is normal, there are as many as 4 different upc numbers per title. This is because of different security systems in use in retailing and to make it easier to make sure the product gets to the correct dealer. The program even tells you to search via upc, not title. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

I'm sorry,, I don't understand. Are you saying he shouldn't' add the similar profile and change the UPC to the one he has? | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | That's fine, change the upc and contribute it. Usually people wonder why this might be true, not the suggestion of the op which is not even an issue. That's all, pal. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Be sure and change any data that doesn't match the DVD you own. For example you will need to scan the back cover with the correct UPC. There might be other differences such as Audio, Overview, MC etc. which you will need to change if applicable. If you do copy any data, such as Cast and Crew, when you contribute the new profile to the database, make sure you note the EAN or UPC that you took the information from in your documentation. |
