This is a little complicated so i'll explain as best i can.
I'm trying to update the Rambo Quadrilogy [9-317731-091803]. So as per rules for box sets I want to add the discs one by one as child profiles. The first, second and fourth discs are fine. They come up as profiles i can convert to an Australian version.
Problem occurs with Rambo 3. When i put the disc in, it comes up with a profile for a previous Rambo Trilogy [5050582846775] which has Rambo 1,2,3 all included but only linked to 3. The child profiles are all blank so it must be wrong.
So what can I do? Can the Trilogy profile be corrected/deleted? If so how do I go bout this? If not, how do I get around this?

Empty or not,
the release-specific data (Release Date, SRP, Scans, Overview) can only be changed on a local basis and must not be contributed to the online-database.
Disc-specific data (Cast, Crew, Running Time, Regions, Features, etc.) can be contributed.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Okay, lets take a step back. From what you wrote I assume that you are trying to add the 4 movies by DiscID, right?

If so, everything is fine, the old Trilogy set just pops up because it has the Disc-IDs in the "Discs"-section. Kind of a service in case you want this profile.

But you don't!

Simply uncheck "Download profile from Invelos" at the lower left and proceed.
Or if you have another profile, added by title, that fits your needs you can simply choose "DVD -> Change UPC" and click "Use disc ID from inserted disc" to convert it.

Looks to me that the old trilogy is a boxset with children, but the disc id's have been entered into the boxset parent and not into the respective child. Surely this is wrong and should be corrected?

The Disc-IDs were entered incorrectly in the Discs-section, while as Boxset-content we find children added by UPC/EAN. Provided that the CaseType is chosen correctly this is definitely incorrect too.

For correcting these errors one would now need the boxset at hand (otherwise contributing the Disc-ID children would not be possible).

For the OP this means that the Disc-IDs are free to use.
Even though "his" data may be overwritten on the day someone finds the time to correct profile 5050582846775.
