Why is it against the rules to add Edition Blu ray 3d + Blue ray?
it's one of the options in DVD Profiler.

Probably the same reason we don't enter DVD as an edition.

Exactly that is the reason. The format is already part of the profile and therefore it would be redundant to add it to the edition field as well.
Recently bought films:

The Matrix [Blu-ray] | Shirins Wedding [DVD] | The Graduate [Blu-ray] | Prometheus [Blu-ray 3D] | Hwal [DVD]

To be fair, widescreen is allowed as an edition and that information is redundant as well.

Well... yes, you're right. I was under the false impression that at least in this case the rules make sense.

I have always disliked this rule and remove them all locally. The A/R field tells us it is widescreen.

I remove them as well, but mostly because I only buy widescreen releases. (Unless it's been cropped and the OAR is full frame.)

What I think is good to have 3D version is that it goes to search for 3d in the profiler then comes all the movies in 3d up in a list
