Just got this app on my iPhone and was wondering if using the Bar Code Scanner counts against my data plan, since i have a really crappy one.

You're downloading data from the Invelos database, so yes, it will count against your data plan. I don't think the data usage will be very high, but you are using data.

If you think about it, a bar scanner uses a search engine, working similarly to any other. You scan the code and the code is searched to find and display the product. That is the amount of data that will be used.

While using the cellular connection and not wi-fi one, you can go to Settings -> Cellular and scroll down until you see "Cellular Data Usage." Make a note of "Current Period" or reset your statistics (foud at the bottom), do only one scan, and go back to see how much the number has changed.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk.
